Senior Data Engineer (dbt + Snowflake)

About the Project

Join a world leader in entertainment to build a dimensional analytics infrastructure for a high-volume live events ticketing and hospitality business.
You will transform existing Snowflake source data into production-ready BI models supporting commercial strategy, pricing, and revenue optimization.

This project involves significant validation and data quality work, handling complex business logic, null management, and cross-system reconciliation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain dimensional data models (facts and dimensions) in Snowflake using dbt.
  • Transform data from the Snowflake Landing (Bronze) layer into the Analytics (Silver) layer for downstream BI use.
  • Ensure data integrity through validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with Analytics and Data Platform teams, participating in peer reviews and Git-based workflows.
  • Document data models and ensure they are production-ready for direct use by BI analysts.
  • Iterate and refine data transformations based on stakeholder feedback to ensure high accuracy.

20% setup & design โ†’ 30% model building โ†’ 40% validation & iteration โ†’ 10% documentation & handoff

 

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building dimensional data models in production (facts and dimensions).
  • Expert-level SQL and dbt skills, with strong understanding of materialization strategies (views, tables, incremental).
  • Proven Snowflake production experience.
  • Proficiency with Git workflows: pull requests, code review, collaboration.
  • Strong commitment to code quality: linting, pre-commit hooks, team conventions.
  • Excellent data validation and QA abilities.
  • Experience debugging and correcting transformation logic.
  • Ability to deliver independently while communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Portfolio required (GitHub or similar) showcasing dbt and dimensional modeling work.

     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in e-commerce, ticketing, or other transactional data domains.
  • Background in cross-system data reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with BI platforms (Tableau, Omni Analytics, Looker).
  • Availability for partial US Central Time (CST) overlap.

Additional Details

  • Scope boundaries: You will not be responsible for building ingestion pipelines, orchestration workflows, or BI dashboards.
  • Code review: All work will be pushed to GitHub and reviewed by the Data Platform team for approval prior to merging.
  • Collaboration: Close communication with the Data Platform team is essential throughout the project lifecycle.
