Backend Developer (offline)

This is a new role in an established distributed team, with a new office in Lviv where we are growing a team of 6 people (at first).

What will I be doing?
● Joining a distributed team of two product designers and three senior engineers that is growing
● Rebuilding from scratch the backend of our established and successful product, owning and maintaining the product's quality, delivering new features and updates (the legacy product will not scale in order to meet the ambitious plans to add cool new functionality, hence the decision to rewrite)
● Learning and growing a passion for the company's business strategy and delivering a product that reflects that.

What skills do I need?
● Solid experience developing Java web applications, and knowledge of Java's inner workings. We're hiring one senior and one junior/middle backend developer at first
● Good understanding of software design patterns and underlying principles
● PostgreSQL, Redis, RSpec, VCR, Capybara, Capistrano, Git, AWS, NewRelic, CI or similar tools
● Strong TDD/BDD skills
● Understanding of HTTP protocol and and other web concepts
● Experience in scaling web applications
● Understanding of web security specifics
● Knowledge of the frontend stack (experience with React.js and other frameworks would be ideal)
● Experience in web parsing is a plus
● Good written and spoken communication skills in English will be necessary.
