PostgreSQL Administrator (DBA)

Key Responsibilities

• Configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL servers in production and development environments
• Monitor performance, tune database parameters, and optimize queries
• Perform database backups and restores, plan disaster recovery procedures
• Set up replication (streaming replication, logical replication) and ensure high availability (HA)
• Manage users, roles, and security policies
• Monitor logs (WAL), control data growth, and optimize disk space usage
• Collaborate with the development team to support new features and resolve SQL performance issues
• Automate routine tasks using scripts (Bash, Python, or others)

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience working with PostgreSQL (administration, tuning, monitoring)
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture (processes, query planner, indexes, MVCC, VACUUM/ANALYZE)
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, pg_stat_statements)
• Proven ability to optimize complex SQL queries and data schemas
• Strong knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, or similar) and system-level administration
• Practical understanding of database security (TLS, roles, access control policies)

• Experience configuring replication and high-availability clusters (Patroni, repmgr, pgpool-II, etc.)
• Experience with PostGIS (spatial data) and/or integrating PostgreSQL with GIS systems (ArcGIS, QGIS)
• Knowledge of other DBMSs (MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL) for migrations or integrations
• Experience working with large datasets (high load, high availability)
