Head of DBA

Location: Valencia, Spain – Onsite role with relocation support

We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of Database Administration to join the team of our client, a fast-growing international company delivering innovative tech solutions across Fintech, iGaming, and Marketing sectors. This is a leadership role where you will guide the database team while actively shaping the performance, reliability, and scalability of their diverse data ecosystem.

About the team:
Our client’s team is ambitious, dynamic, and constantly pushing the boundaries of technology. You will lead a group of skilled DBAs, working on high-load systems with modern infrastructure, from cloud environments to Kubernetes and on-premises setups.

Tech Stack:

• Relational Databases: MySQL, Percona XtraDB Cluster, Amazon RDS, Aurora
• Analytics & Streaming: ClickHouse, CDC streaming (Debezium)
• NoSQL: MongoDB
• Infrastructure: Cloud-hosted, on-premises, and Kubernetes-deployed databases

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and scale a growing DBA team (currently 5 members, actively expanding).
• Ensure high performance, availability, backup, and disaster recovery across 100+ database servers, including mission-critical, high-load systems.
• Collaborate closely with development, architecture, and analytics teams to optimize database efficiency and reliability.
• Implement best practices in database management, migrations, automation, and standardization.
• Explore, evaluate, and deploy new technologies to meet the evolving business needs.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale, high-availability database environments.
• Proven leadership skills and experience managing technical teams.
• Hands-on experience with cloud, on-premises, and containerized (Kubernetes) database environments.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and collaboration skills.
