People Operations and Talent Acquisition Manager / Team Builder
About Us
Smarten Transport Inc. is a fast-growing U.S.-based trucking and logistics company with operations in the U.S. and an international remote team.
We are looking for one strong person who can build and manage our recruiting and people operations process from the ground up.
This is not only a recruiter position. We need someone who can find, interview, test, hire, onboard, and support remote employees so they become productive, loyal, and connected to the company.
The main focus is hiring and managing remote office, operations, support, administrative, project, and technical staff across the Americas, Europe, and other international markets.
Main Goal
Your first goal will be to help us recruit, test, hire, and successfully onboard at least 5 strong remote team members.
Long term, your role will be to build a reliable recruiting and people operations system that helps us grow with the right people.
Responsibilities
1. Recruiting Setup & Foundation
- Build the recruiting and people operations process from scratch
- Create recruiting workflows, job templates, interview scorecards, test tasks, and candidate tracking
- Organize the full hiring pipeline in ClickUp
- Create and manage company profiles on relevant platforms
- Improve job ads, outreach messages, employer branding, and candidate communication
- Build a repeatable system for finding, evaluating, hiring, and onboarding remote employees
2. International Remote Recruiting
- Source and attract candidates across the Americas, Europe, and other international markets
- Recruit for roles such as operations, support, admin, project coordination, technical support, automation, and other remote office positions
- Use platforms such as Djinni, LinkedIn, Meta/Facebook groups, referrals, and other relevant international channels
- Build a strong candidate pipeline across multiple roles
- Test different recruiting channels and track which sources bring the best people
3. Candidate Screening, Testing, and Interviews
- Screen candidates based on clear criteria
- Conduct first interviews
- Check communication skills, English level, responsibility, work style, motivation, and culture fit
- Create or organize practical test tasks before hiring
- Compare candidates and provide clear recommendations to management
- Maintain an organized pipeline for multiple open roles
4. Hiring and Onboarding
- Coordinate the hiring process from first contact to offer
- Help prepare offer details, start dates, and onboarding plans
- Make sure new hires understand company tools, rules, expectations, and responsibilities
- Build 30/60/90-day onboarding plans
- Follow up with new employees during their first months to make sure they are adapting well
- Help new hires become productive faster
5. Remote Team Management and Retention
- Help create a friendly, responsible, and professional remote team culture
- Improve communication between remote employees and management
- Run regular check-ins with new and existing team members
- Identify problems early before employees disappear, lose motivation, or leave
- Help improve retention, engagement, and team loyalty
- Track why people leave and suggest improvements
6. Reporting and KPIs
- Track recruiting metrics such as time to fill, source effectiveness, candidate quality, successful hires, and retention
- Provide weekly recruiting and people operations updates
- Keep all candidate and onboarding information organized in ClickUp
- Continuously improve sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and retention processes
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, people operations, HR, or remote team management
- Experience hiring internationally
- Experience recruiting remote employees across different countries and time zones
- Strong ability to interview candidates and understand their real work style
- Ability to create practical test tasks and evaluate candidate performance
- Fluent English
- Strong communication and follow-up skills
- Good judgment when evaluating people
- Highly organized, self-driven, and able to work independently
- Comfortable building processes from scratch
- Experience using ClickUp or willingness to work inside ClickUp as the main management system
Preferred Skills
- Experience hiring for operations, customer support, admin, project coordination, technical support, automation, SaaS, IT, or logistics office roles
- Experience with Djinni, LinkedIn, Meta/Facebook groups, referrals, and international recruiting channels
- Experience building onboarding plans, checklists, templates, scorecards, and SOPs
- Understanding of remote team culture, retention, accountability, and employee engagement
- Ability to create clear job ads and outreach messages
Important Note
This role is currently focused on remote office and international staff recruiting.
We are not looking for this person to manage CDL driver or owner-operator recruiting at this stage, because that requires a different type of recruiting experience.

You Are Not a Good Fit If
- You only want to source resumes and pass candidates forward
- You do not want to be involved after hiring
- You are not comfortable checking in with employees after they start
- You are not organized with follow-ups, pipelines, and reporting
- You need someone to tell you every small step
- You only have experience with local recruiting and no international remote hiring experience
