Senior Back-End Developer (Symfony/PHP + AWS) to $4200

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Back-End Developer with deep expertise in PHP 8.x and the Symfony framework to architect and implement robust APIs and integrations for a complex, high-traffic digital platform. The role requires strong knowledge of AWS hosting, caching, queues, and security.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable back-end systems in PHP 8.4 with Symfony (7.x preferred, 6.4 minimum).
• Design, build, and maintain secure RESTful APIs for mobile and web front-ends.
• Implement caching and performance optimisation using Redis and Symfony Cache.
• Configure messaging and job queues with RabbitMQ or Symfony Messenger.
• Architect and manage PostgreSQL databases with best practices in indexing and queries.
• Manage file storage and uploads using AWS S3 and Flysystem.
• Set up and maintain hosting environments on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, ElastiCache, CloudWatch).
• Configure web servers with Nginx and containerisation with Docker (future Kubernetes migration).
• Implement logging and monitoring using Monolog, Loggly, or Graylog.
• Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance with GDPR.
• Support CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a back-end developer, with proven Symfony and PHP expertise.
• Strong command of Symfony components including: Doctrine ORM, Symfony Lock, Symfony Cache, Symfony Messenger, Symfony Serializer, Symfony Flex, Symfony Validator, Symfony Security.
• Advanced knowledge of AWS hosting and services.
• Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ, and PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Proficiency with containerisation tools such as Docker.
• Strong understanding of security, authentication, and data protection principles.
• Familiarity with log management and monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Bonus: Experience with Firebase, AI/ML integrations, or large-scale API-driven systems.
