FLYYO is a dynamic and rapidly growing airline headquartered in Bucharest, Romania. Operating a fleet of modern Airbus A320 aircrafts, FLYYO builds a new team with focus on scheduled operations. And now we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to manage our core commercial IT systems.

 

Position Summary

The Commercial Systems Manager will be a pivotal link between FLYYO’s commercial operations,
IT infrastructure, and external software vendors. This role is responsible for the overall configuration, robust functioning, and continuous optimization of FLYYO’s integrated commercial software suite, including Passenger Service System (PSS), Inventory, Reservation, Departure Control System (DCS), Revenue Management System (RMS), E-commerce platform, and other related components. The successful candidate will ensure seamless integration with operational systems and provide critical support throughout the system lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

System Configuration & Setup:

  • Lead and execute the configuration of all commercial system modules (e.g., fares, rules, routes, inventory, pricing parameters, user roles) in alignment with FLYYO’s commercial strategy.
  • Ensure accurate master data setup and ongoing data integrity within the systems.

System Functionality Control & Monitoring:

  • Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and ensure optimal functionality across all integrated components.
  • Perform regular health checks and maintain system uptime.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

  • Plan, execute, and document comprehensive testing cycles during the implementation phase (UAT — User Acceptance Testing).
  • Conduct thorough testing of new functionalities, updates, and releases post-implementation.
  • Identify, report, and track bugs/issues in coordination with vendors and internal teams.

User Support & Helpdesk:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal users for all commercial system-related queries and issues (Tier 1 helpdesk support).
  • Provide training and develop user guides/documentation for various system functionalities.

Vendor Management & Liaison:

  • Serve as the key technical and functional contact person for commercial software providers.
  • Manage vendor communication regarding system issues, enhancements, and roadmap discussions.
  • Coordinate and oversee system upgrades and patches with vendors.

Functional Expertise & Optimization:

  • Provide expert functional knowledge of commercial systems to support business process improvements and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization and automation to enhance efficiency and revenue generation.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in airline commercial IT.

Integration Management:

  • Collaborate with IT and operational teams to ensure seamless integration between commercial systems and other airline operational platforms (e.g., flight operations, crew management).

Key Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Aviation Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an airline or aviation IT environment, specifically with RM commercial systems (PSS, Inventory, Reservations, DCS, E-commerce might be as additional advantage).
  • Demonstrable experience in configuring, implementing, and/or managing at least one major airline PSS/Commercial Suite (e.g., Amadeus Altea, Sabre Radixx, Navitaire, Hitit).
  • Experience in a project environment, particularly during system implementation or migration phases, is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of operating systems (PDC, LEON, AIMS, Navitaire).

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of the architecture and interdependencies of integrated airline commercial systems.
  • Proficiency in system configuration, master data management, and troubleshooting within complex IT environments.
  • Familiarity with database concepts and querying (e.g., SQL) for data analysis and issue resolution is a plus.
  • Understanding of APIs and system integration principles.
  • Strong analytical skills to diagnose system issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.

Functional Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of airline revenue management principles, fare structures, pricing strategies, and inventory control methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of aviation distribution channels (GDS, NDC, Direct Connect, OTAs).
  • Familiarity with airline operational processes (e.g., check-in, boarding, APIS, PNRGOV, EDIFACT messaging) and their interaction with commercial systems.
  • Understanding of the passenger mobile app suits (mobile check-in, OBE)
  • Understanding CUPPS systems and their differences
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in commercial aviation.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) in English, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users and effectively communicate with vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic startup environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a low-cost carrier (LCC) environment.
  • Certifications in relevant IT or aviation specific systems.
  • Experience with project management methodologies.
