Middle Operations Engineer
SMTP.com Integrated Operations Center is looking for an ambitious Middle Operations Engineer to join our growing team. A successful candidate will be essential in maintaining a modern email delivery platform that serves thousands of customers worldwide.
You will support a complex email delivery platform and ensure its stability and availability.
As part of Integrated Operations, you will work closely with DevOps, Development, and Customer Success departments, performing a critical role in connecting the dots between the early stages of new product creation and its live delivery and continuous support and improvements.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of hands-on recent experience in Linux server-side system administration (including advanced OS network administration)
- Practical experience and core concept understanding of the industry-standard Incident Management process
- Ability and willing to create and maintain best-in-class technical documentation, processes, and procedures
- Solution-driven mindset, strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to be a part of off-hours on-call rotation and escalation schedule
- Confident spoken and written English language
Qualifications/Experience:
- Hands-on expertise in Linux OS (Ubuntu, AWS Linux) administration
- Experience in virtualization and containerisation technologies (LXC, Docker swarm, K8S as a plus) and Cloud computing (AWS experience preferred).
- Bash/python scripting experience for daily routine automation.
- General database administration experience (SQLs, Redis, MongoDB)
- Experience in DNS server administration (management, replication, redundancy, configuration)
- Experience (1+ years) in task automation - Ansible CM or similar
- Experience in monitoring systems administration (Prometheus+Grafana)
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support a hybrid ecosystem of 500+ servers, ensuring stability, reliability, and performance across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Execute and improve Operations processes that align with defined SLOs/SLAs, helping the team achieve uptime and service availability goals.
- Play a key role in incident management, serving as an escalation point for complex issues and providing efficient, timely resolutions during both business hours and on-call rotations.
- Support and enhance monitoring and observability systems to enable faster detection, alerting, and resolution of issues with minimal customer impact.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining high-availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
- Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams on cloud and infrastructure initiatives, contributing expertise in operations, monitoring, and day-to-day system support.
- Contribute to hybrid infrastructure optimization, identifying opportunities for better resource utilization and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and current documentation for systems, infrastructure components, services, and processes to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in the release management cycle, ensuring operational readiness and smooth integration into production environments.
