Junior Counsel
SKELAR is a venture builder that builds international product IT companies, where we recreated the venture capital world. Together with our co-founders, we gather strong teams to kick off and run tech businesses and win in global markets.
We are currently looking for a Junior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team, with a focus on supporting a product in the mental health domain. This role involves assisting in product and marketing compliance, data protection, intellectual property, and adherence to regulatory requirements in Tier-1 geographies (such as the USA, EU, and UK).
Responsibilities / Your Impact:
β Assisting in researching and analyzing regulatory frameworks and case law on consumer protection, data protection, mental health sector regulations, and IP in the jurisdictions of our operations (with a focus on the USA and the EU).
β Helping investigate, assess, and resolve consumer complaints in collaboration with customer support and product teams.
β Reviewing and approving marketing materials (online campaigns, funnels, website landings, promotional content, etc.).
β Monitoring developments in regulatory frameworks and raising stakeholdersβ awareness.
β Creating educational content and training materials for different teams (product, marketing, customer support, etc.).
β Identifying potential legal risks in close collaboration with the product team and helping develop risk mitigation strategies.
β Drafting, reviewing, and maintaining legal policies (Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, GDPR-required documents).
β Partnering with the product, marketing, and compliance teams to enhance operational compliance.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
β 1+ years of experience in law firms, Big 4, or local/international top-tier companies.
β A degree in law from a Ukrainian or foreign university (or currently in the final year of studies).
β Fluent English.
β Initiative and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters and to think creatively to solve complex issues.
β Action-oriented, well-organized, self-starter.
β Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear business solutions.
β Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Will Be a Plus:
β Knowledge of consumer protection laws in the USA and EU (FTC Act, Negative Option Rule, ROSCA, CAN-SPAM Act, OMNIBUS Directive, etc.).
β Understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations/frameworks, especially in the context of sensitive data.
β Interest in or exposure to digital health, wellness, or technology legal matters will be an advantage.
β Participation in moot court competitions.
