Intermediate QA Tester - Driving Quality And User Experience for Fintech Innovation to $1500 Offline

We are a growing startup at the forefront of the retirement plan space, seeking a meticulous and user-focused Intermediate QA Tester. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, reliability, and user-centricity of our brand new product. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and an evolving interest in test automation and AI-driven QA.
 

As an Intermediate QA Tester, you will:

  • Capture User Needs: Monitor and capture user requests and feedback from channels like Slack, translating them into clear, actionable Jira tickets for our development team.
  • Validate & Verify: Systematically validate that user requests and new features are implemented correctly and effectively, ensuring they meet defined specifications and user expectations.
  • Perform Manual QA: Execute comprehensive manual testing for new features and releases, identifying defects, inconsistencies, and usability issues in both web and potentially mobile applications.
  • Support Releases: Actively participate in the QA process for releases, ensuring stability and functionality before deployment.
  • Evolve to Automation: Begin to build and execute automated test scripts with Playwright, laying the groundwork for a more robust and efficient automated QA process.
  • Explore AI in QA: Contribute to the exploration and eventual implementation of artificial intelligence tools and methodologies to enhance our testing capabilities.
     

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a solid understanding of software testing methodologies and quality assurance processes.
  • Is proficient in manual testing techniques and comfortable with defect tracking systems like Jira.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, capable of translating user feedback into technical requirements and collaborating effectively with developers.
  • Is eager to learn and grow into an automated QA role, with an interest in Playwright and the application of AI in testing.
  • Can navigate the intricate world of financial and compliance requirements, ensuring our systems meet these critical standards.
  • Is able to organize and prioritize QA tasks, keeping pace with our project milestones and evolving features.

  • Have a foundational understanding or keen interest in test automation, particularly with tools like Playwright.

     

Your Responsibilities:

  • Translating user requests from Slack into well-defined Jira tickets for the development team.
  • Creating and executing detailed test cases and test plans for new features and bug fixes.
  • Performing comprehensive manual testing across our application.
  • Documenting and reporting defects clearly and accurately, and tracking them through to resolution.
  • Collaborating closely with developers and product managers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participating in release validation and regression testing efforts.
  • Report on each issue in tools like Zipy and Sentry and identify issues, report on status on sync calls.
  • Assisting in the development of initial automated test scripts using Playwright.

     

You should:

  • Speak Fluent English (Reading, Writing, Speaking & Spelling are all important!)
  • Be eager to learn, and share what you’ve learned over your experience.
  • Have at least 2-3 years of commercial experience in QA testing.
  • Be a person we can trust, works well in a team, gives your opinion, uses their whole brain to solve intense problems.

Time zones & Meetings:

We are looking for someone in Ukraine timezones, or willing to work on an American schedule.

 

We have daily standup meetings with our US/International team scheduled from 10:00 to 10:30 AM PDT (GMT-7). While we understand if you need to miss a couple, we generally expect these meetings to be attended. This should coincide with the end of your day in your timezone.

 

We don’t care when you do most of your work, but you should plan on making a majority of those daily standups, even if you log out for the day afterwards.

 

The Project:

This is not just a job; it's an opportunity to engage in a long-term creative project. We estimate 3 months of full-time work, with the possibility of longer-term employment.

 

The Pay:
