Frontend Developer (E-commerce) to $3500 Offline
We are a small, ambitious startup developing a next-generation WordPress plugin for creating online stores. Our goal is to offer a modern and user-friendly alternative to WooCommerce, with most popular features included out of the box. Unlike SaaS solutions such as Shopify, which solve some of WooCommerce’s shortcomings but include hidden commissions and lock you into their ecosystem, our plugin offers full independence and no hidden fees, giving store owners complete control over their business.
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Frontend Developer with expertise in React development for WordPress. In this role, you’ll work on building an intuitive and high-performance user interface for our e-commerce plugin. This is an opportunity to contribute to a product from the ground up, helping shape its architecture and delivering a seamless experience to store owners.
What You’ll Do
- Develop responsive, user-friendly interfaces for the WordPress plugin using React.
- Build and customize WordPress block editor (Gutenberg) components and features.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers and backend developers to implement designs and ensure seamless functionality.
- Optimize code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Debug and fix issues related to the front end and integration with the WordPress back end.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest WordPress, React, and JavaScript trends and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in frontend development.
- Strong knowledge of React and JavaScript (ES6+, TypeScript).
- Experience with WordPress development, including Gutenberg block creation.
- Familiarity with REST API integration and working with headless WordPress setups.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including preprocessors like SASS), and modern frontend workflows.
- Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) standards and best practices.
- Experience with build tools like Webpack or Vite.
- Experience optimizing performance (e.g., lazy-loading, code splitting, and asset optimization).
- English at B2 or higher.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with GraphQL (e.g., WPGraphQL).
- Experience working on SaaS or e-commerce products.
- Experience working with WordPress Interactivity API.
- Experience in writing unit tests.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to build a product from scratch and heavily influence its development.
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Fully remote position, providing flexibility and supporting a healthy work-life balance.
- Working hours from 10:00 to 19:00 Kyiv time.
- 20 vacation days per year, paid sick leave.
- Public holidays in accordance with Ukrainian legislation.
If you’re passionate about modern web development, WordPress, and React, and want to work on a project that aims to redefine e-commerce, we’d love to hear from you!
