Oracle DBA
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Oracle DBA for our EU client to own the design, deployment, and optimization of Oracle database clusters on Microsoft Azure. In this role you will:
- Ensure high availability, scalability and security of all Oracle workloads
- Collaborate closely with DevOps, application development, and security teams
- Drive automation and best-practice processes across the database life-cycle
Responsibilities
- Provision and configure Oracle Database on Azure
- Automate infrastructure deployment, patching, and backups using ARM templates, Terraform, and Azure CLI
- Monitor database health and performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Oracle Enterprise Manager
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning (SQL, PL/SQL), and root-cause analyses
- Design and validate high-availability and disaster-recovery architectures
- Implement security best practices
- Maintain documentation
- Troubleshoot production incidents, lead database upgrades, and apply emergency fixes
Must-have Qualifications
- 3+ years as an Oracle DBA with hands-on experience o
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in Database 12c/19c or later
- Proficiency with Azure IaaS services: Virtual Machines, Managed Disks, Networking
- Infrastructure-as-Code expertise: Terraform
- Strong SQL and PL/SQL optimization skills
- Experience with Linux administration (RHEL, Oracle Linux etc.)
- Familiarity with Azure security controls: NSGs, Key Vault, RBAC
Preferred Skills
- Automation with Azure DevOps pipelines or GitHub Actions
- Expertise in Azure Site Recovery and Azure Backup for Oracle workloads
- Knowledge of containerized Oracle deployments on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Scripting in Python for operational tasks
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services and migration strategies
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- ARM templates
