Lead Unity Developer IRC265121 Offline

Description

We are partnering with a global leader in medical devices to develop the next-generation cutting-edge tool used during hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI). Client provides surgeons with real-time visualization and measurement capabilities by superimposing virtual tools on X-ray images, enabling precise clinical decision-making. The product will help surgers to plan and to validate the procedures by analyzing 2D images from X-Rays, CT, MRI and building 3D objects.

Our goal is to enhance the product’s capabilities, improving workflow efficiency and advancing surgical outcomes. This project will involve refining requirements, designing intuitive interfaces, and integrating advanced visualization tools to meet the highest clinical standards. Join us in shaping the future of minimally invasive orthopedic surgery.

Requirements

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

– Proven experience in a technical leadership or Lead Engineer role, including mentoring developers, making architectural decisions, and overseeing project execution.

– Significant experience developing applications with complex graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using Unity’s UI systems (e.g., UGUI, UI Toolkit). Deep understanding of the Unity Engine’s architecture, core APIs, and asset pipeline.

– Strong experience with 2D/3D graphics programming within Unity, including understanding of Unity’s rendering pipelines (e.g., URP/HDRP), shaders (ShaderLab/HLSL), materials, lighting, and 3D asset integration. Experience optimizing rendering performance (draw calls, batching, culling) for mobile/tablet platforms. Experience with VTK, ITK, or similar.

– Experience with integrating and visualizing outputs from Machine Learning or Computer Vision models within a Unity application is highly desired (e.g., handling data from external models, displaying overlays, rendering 3D reconstructions based on model data). Knowledge of ML/CV concepts from an integration perspective.

– Experience developing software for medical devices or within other regulated industries (e.g., avionics, automotive, serious games) is highly desired.

– Experience developing applications specifically for tablet platforms (iOS, Android, or embedded Linux) using Unity.

– Strong familiarity with CI/CD practices within a Unity context, Network Protocols, and Inter-process communication (IPC) if required for the application architecture.

– Experience with multi-threading, asynchronous programming (Coroutines, async/await, Job System), and network communication (e.g., REST APIs, WebSockets) within Unity applications. Experience with unit testing frameworks within Unity (e.g., Unity Test Framework / NUnit).

– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong ability to make sound architectural and technical decisions. Strong code review skills and focus on code quality. Proactive, self-motivated, and able to drive technical initiatives.

– Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within a cross-functional team.

Job responsibilities

GlobalLogic is starting a completely new engagement and looking for talented Lead Unity Developer to provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in designing, developing, and delivering a high-quality, robust, and performant medical application using the Unity framework and C#. This role involves architecting key components, guiding the development team, implementing complex features (including 3D visualization and ML integration), and ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards suitable for a medical product.

– Liaise with Product Management/Business Analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

– Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to translate designs into functional application interfaces. Work with Backend engineers to define and implement communication protocols and APIs.

– Lead the technical design and architecture of the Unity-based tablet application, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and testability. Make critical technical decisions regarding architecture, third-party libraries, and overall application structure.

– Establish and enforce C# and Unity-specific coding standards, best practices, and design patterns within the development team. Mentor and provide technical guidance to other developers, fostering their growth and ensuring high-quality code contributions.

– Lead code reviews and promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Profile, analyze, and optimize application performance, particularly for graphics rendering and data processing, to ensure smooth operation on target tablet hardware.

– Design and implement mechanisms to effectively integrate, process, and display outputs from Machine Learning / Computer Vision models within the Unity environment (e.g., via native plugins, C# wrappers, or other integration techniques for anatomical measurements, overlays, etc.).

– Engage in hands-on development of core application features and complex components using Unity Engine. Develop and integrate advanced 2D and 3D visualization capabilities for medical imaging data

– Implement sophisticated user interfaces based on designs provided by the UX/UI team, ensuring responsiveness and a high-quality user experience on tablet devices.

– Partner with QA/AQA engineers to define test strategies, ensure testability, and resolve defects.

– Champion unit testing and contribute to the development of a comprehensive test suite (potentially collaborating with AQA on testability hooks). Ensure the developed software meets the high-quality standards required for a medical application, including considerations for reliability and robustness.
