Frontend Developer to $5200

We're looking for a skilled Frontend Developer to join our team. In this role, you'll support and implement new features across multiple web-based UIs, helping evolve and maintain both AllegroGraph WebView and AllegroCloud. You'll work with modern tools like React 18, MUI 5, Vite, React Router 6, and React Query. You'll also contribute to the robustness of our applications by extending our Cypress-based testing systems.

The position is part-time to start, approximately 20 hours per week, but there could be more depending on how well you are integrated into our team and your skill level.  The salary range is calculated using US$30.00 per hour from 20 to 40 hours per week.  The position is open immediately.

We are flexible on hours, as we have people working in many time zones. Consistency is important, however.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain new features for Gruff, WebView and AllegroCloud UIs.
  • Collaborate with the backend team to deliver a seamless user experience.
  • Maintain and improve test coverage using Cypress.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve frontend issues in a timely manner.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and performance tuning.

Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: Vanilla JS, React 18, MUI 5, Vite, React Router 6, React Query
  • Testing: Cypress
  • Other: Git, Gerrit for review, Jenkins for CI

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with graph databases.
  • Experience working with WordPress (e.g., managing content pages, plugin configuration).
  • Basic familiarity with Lisp, as it underpins key components of our backend systems.

Qualifications:

  • The ability to easily communicate with others.
  • 3+ years of experience in frontend development.
  • Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript and React.
  • Good understanding of UI/UX principles.
  • Familiarity with modern build tools and component libraries.
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests.

About us:

  • We're a small software company in the US, founded in 1984.
  • Most of our developers are remote and have been for a long time.  We use Slack for internal communications and Google Meet for video meetings.
  • Our first product was a Common Lisp development environment.
  • AllegroGraph is our current, main product.  The server side is written in Common Lisp.  There are Java and Python clients for it.
  • We are small, but highly collaborative.  Effective communication is an important part of our work environment.
