Site Reliability Engineer (in Portugal or Slovakia)
Role Overview
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will play a critical role in building and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers a dynamic and growing engineering organization. Your mission is to ensure the scalability, availability, and reliability of internal platforms while championing DevOps best practices and a culture of automation and continuous improvement.
You will design robust systems and automation tools that empower development teams to deliver high-quality software at scale. This is a fantastic opportunity for a collaborative, proactive engineer who values doing things right — balancing speed with quality and sustainability.
This is a remote-first position open to candidates based anywhere in Europe, with a strong preference for those located in Portugal.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and safe software delivery.
- Deploy and manage large-scale systems on cloud providers such as AWS and Hetzner.
- Automate key processes related to build, release, monitoring, and observability.
- Work with modern technologies like Kubernetes and Docker to improve platform stability.
- Improve monitoring and alerting systems using tools such as Prometheus and Datadog.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to promote DevOps culture and mentor other teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure application reliability and uptime.
- Continuously drive improvements in performance, fault tolerance, and developer experience.
Who You Are
- 4+ years of relevant experience in site reliability, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles.
- Proficient in Kubernetes, Docker, Git, Linux, Bash, and Terraform.
- Experience with Helm, GitHub Actions, and Ansible is a plus.
- Confident with observability tools and metrics platforms like Prometheus; Datadog experience is a bonus.
- Strong knowledge of AWS (or other cloud platforms) and cloud-native design patterns.
- Capable of supporting applications written in Java/Kotlin or similar environments.
- Skilled in at least one programming language and familiar with software development practices.
- Strong analytical problem solver with a focus on long-term, sustainable solutions.
- Self-driven, responsible, and a strong communicator.
