Team Lead

Role overview :

The Team Lead for the Data Facilitation Product Team is responsible for overseeing the team's day-to-day operations and software development activities, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives. This team currently consists of a full-time backend engineer, a full-time QA engineer, a part-time front-end engineer, and a dedicated product manager (part-time, potentially full-time).

The role requires proactive leadership to drive initiatives forward and deliver measurable value, not simply fulfilling requests, but actively anticipating and addressing challenges. A significant focus for the Team Lead is building and nurturing a culture of strong cross-functional collaboration. This involves establishing effective relationships and frequent interactions with teams across Sales, Account Management, Consulting, and Research, inviting these stakeholders into Sprint Ceremonies, and aligning efforts toward shared goals.

The Team Lead will invest significantly in gaining product domain expertise, deepening their understanding of customer needs, pain points, and organizational objectives. They will actively seek insights into the work and goals of other departments and product teams to ensure alignment and effective collaboration.

Additionally, the Team Lead will actively promote the Data Facilitation team's accomplishments within the organization, highlighting their progress, celebrating successes, and making visible the talent and expertise of team members. This includes fostering an environment where team members feel recognized, supported, and motivated to continually improve and innovate.

 

Product Overview:

The key idea of this product is to enable our customers to share their proprietary data with us easily and frictionlessly. We have built a number of products that analyze data of our customers and provide them with valuable insights and execute operational workloads for them. The mission of the team is to constantly come up with effective ways to collect data, automate processing, normalize and integrate with internal products, so other product teams could consume this data and build their products.

 

Important Note: Candidates must demonstrate prior knowledge of CUCollaborate’s platform, tools, and services, and are expected to research and familiarize themselves with the organization before applying.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management:

Oversee day-to-day team operations, provide clear direction, resolve blockers, and ensure effective collaboration among team members.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Establish and nurture strong working relationships with Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Consulting, and Research departments. Actively involve these stakeholders in sprint ceremonies, share context proactively, and collaborate on cross-departmental initiatives and goals.

  • Proactive Value Delivery:

Drive solutions proactively, anticipating challenges and opportunities rather than taking orders. Continuously identify opportunities to deliver measurable business value.

  • Solution Design:

Work closely with the product manager and stakeholders to design robust solutions, decompose work into manageable tasks, and oversee execution through effective sprint planning and agile methodologies.

  • Product Discovery & Delivery:

Lead technical aspects of product discovery, partnering closely with the product manager to define, prioritize, and deliver solutions rapidly and confidently.

  • Proactive Value-Driving:

Position yourself and the team to anticipate needs, challenges, and opportunities. Push initiatives forward proactively to achieve continuous improvement and deliver business outcomes.

  • Technical Mentorship & Growth:

Mentor, coach, and develop team members, fostering continuous growth, skill development, and accountability.

  • Communication & Feedback:

Ensure clear, timely, and consistent communication within the team and across departments. Provide constructive feedback to team members, foster open dialogue, and encourage transparent communication within the organization.

 

Requirements:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong backend development expertise in .NET / C#.
  • Significant experience working with databases (SQL, with exposure to NoSQL).
  • Practical knowledge of the Azure Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies, ideally React.

Experience:

  • Proven experience leading software development teams (2+ years in a leadership or team lead role and 6+ years generally).
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating cross-functionally with non-technical teams (Sales, Consulting, Account Management, Research).
  • Solid experience designing technical solutions and leading their successful implementation.
  • Background in Agile methodologies, Scrum ceremonies, and iterative software development practices.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with data-intensive products or data engineering concepts
