Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Financial Analyst to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is looking to contribute meaningfully to a high-growth tech company.
The role begins with a 4-week full-time onboarding phase to build foundational knowledge of our current spend structure, followed by an ongoing commitment of approximately 16 hours per month.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive review of all company expenditures across departments and categories
- Build and maintain a structured, up-to-date spend database
- Create monthly spend reports with breakdowns and trends by category, department, vendor, etc.
- Develop month-over-month change reports and analysis to highlight cost shifts and anomalies
- Generate future spend projections based on historical data, contracts, and business plans
- Collaborate with leadership to support budgeting and planning initiatives
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis as needed to support business decisions
Requirements
- Proven experience as a financial analyst or similar role, ideally in a startup or SaaS environment
- High proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data visualization
- Knowledge of automations in Excel/Google Sheets, strong "chatgpt" skills (preferred: some SQL knowledge)
- Experience building simple dashboards in Google Sheets (preferred advanced, such as Looker Studio)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies or gaps in data
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and manage time across ongoing and ad hoc tasks
- Fluent or near-fluent English
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
- Experience working in or with IT or SaaS product companies
- Knowledge of how to work with API's and automate data extraction from other application/tools for reporting
- Familiarity with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions in a startup context
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles is a plus
- Familiarity with tools such as QuickBooks
