Middle QA Automation Engineer

We are looking for a Middle QA Automation Engineer to join our team in ensuring the quality of our Magento 2 e-commerce platform (with a ScandiPWA progressive web app front end) and our custom PIM system running on AWS Lambda. In this role, you will develop and execute automated tests using Playwright to help catch bugs early and verify that new features work flawlessly. You’ll work under the guidance of a senior QA engineer and collaborate with developers to expand our test coverage and maintain a high standard of quality. This is a full-time remote position, and you should be available to work during Kyiv time zone business hours.

Responsibilities

- Test Development: Write, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright to cover critical user flows on the Magento 2/ScandiPWA website and the AWS Lambda-based PIM services.
- Feature Testing: Collaborate with developers and senior QA to understand new features and requirements, then create test cases (functional, regression, end-to-end) to validate them.
- Bug Detection: Identify, document, and report bugs clearly in the tracking system. Work with developers to reproduce issues and verify fixes once implemented.
- Regression & Release Testing: Run regression test suites before releases to ensure existing functionalities remain stable. Verify that deployments to production meet the quality standards.
- Test Environment: Assist in maintaining test environments and test data (e.g. setting up user accounts, product data) needed for effective automation.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with the QA team to improve test coverage and refine testing processes. Offer suggestions to enhance our automation framework or tools for better efficiency.
- Exploratory Testing: Participate in exploratory manual testing when necessary to understand the application behavior and to investigate complex issues not covered by automated tests.

Requirements

- Experience: 3+ years of experience in software QA, including significant focus on test automation.
- Automation Skills: Practical experience creating automated tests with Playwright (mandatory) or similar web testing frameworks. Ability to write test scripts in a programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, etc.).
- Web App Knowledge: Familiarity with testing web applications – understanding of browsers, HTML/CSS, APIs, and how to validate data flowing between front end and back end. Experience with e-commerce platforms (Magento 2 or others) is a plus.
- Tools & Platforms: Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git) and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (running tests in Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar environments).
- Cloud/API Exposure: Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and how to test them. Exposure to cloud services or serverless functions (AWS Lambda) is nice to have.
- QA Fundamentals: Good grasp of software testing fundamentals – test case design, bug life cycle, and various testing types (functional, regression, smoke testing, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Meticulous attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset. Strong communication skills and ability to work in a remote team. Intermediate or higher English is required for daily communication with the team.
