Senior QA Automation Engineer

We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to lead our quality assurance efforts across two core projects: a Magento 2 e-commerce platform with a ScandiPWA front end, and a custom Product Information Management (PIM) system built on AWS Lambda. In this role, you will design and implement automated testing strategies using Playwright to ensure our web applications are stable, fast, and user-friendly. You’ll collaborate closely with the development team to integrate testing into the development cycle and uphold high quality standards. This is a full-time remote position, and candidates must be able to work standard hours in the Kyiv time zone.

Responsibilities

- Lead Test Automation: Design, develop, and maintain an automated test framework using Playwright for our Magento 2/ScandiPWA storefront and AWS Lambda-based PIM services.
- Test Planning: Create comprehensive test plans and test cases for new features and releases, covering functional, regression, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with developers and product managers to define acceptance criteria and ensure thorough test coverage for all features.
- CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to enable continuous testing and prompt feedback on build quality.
- Issue Tracking: Monitor and analyze test results, identify defects, and document them clearly. Drive the resolution of bugs by working with the engineering team and verifying fixes.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior QA engineers or team members, sharing best practices in test automation and quality assurance.
- Quality Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance product quality and team efficiency. (Occasionally participate in exploratory manual testing for critical features as needed.)

Requirements

- Experience: 5+ years in QA/QC engineering, with at least 3 years focused on test automation.
- Automation Skills: Hands-on expertise in building automated tests for web applications using Playwright (mandatory). Proficiency in programming/scripting (TypeScript/JavaScript preferred) to develop robust test scripts.
- Web Technologies: Strong understanding of web application testing (UI and API). Experience with e-commerce platforms (Magento 2 or similar) and modern front-end frameworks (PWA, React) is highly desirable.
- Cloud and API: Familiarity with testing cloud-based applications or microservices; experience with AWS Lambda or serverless architecture is a plus.
- CI/CD & Tools: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and using version control (Git) and issue tracking tools (Jira or similar).
- QA Best Practices: Deep knowledge of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and quality best practices. Ability to develop test plans, define test strategies, and ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail. Strong communication skills (written and spoken English) and ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team.
