SQL Database Engineer Offline

Intetics Inc., a leading American technology company specializing in custom software application development, distributed professional teams creation, software product quality assessment, and “all-things-digital” solutions, is looking for a SQL Database Engineer (Migration & Optimization) to join its innovative team.

About the project:

We’re modernising a legacy on-premise MSSQL database as part of a cloud migration for our client. The existing .bak file is around 2.3 GB and supports ~200 users in total, with fewer than 20 concurrent users at peak load.

The old schema has grown organically over time and includes some inconsistencies and awkward design patterns. We’re rebuilding the application using Angular and NestJS, with a cleaner and more maintainable data model.

Responsibilities

  • Review the existing MSSQL schema from a .bak backup
  • Collaborate with the development team to understand how the new Angular/NestJS application will interact with data
  • Design and implement a simplified, efficient new database schema aligned with the updated application model
  • Handle data extraction, transformation, and migration from the old schema to the new structure
  • Set up the new database in Azure SQL Database, following best practices for:
    • Performance tuning
    • Security (TDE, Private Link, RBAC)
    • Cost optimization (serverless tier, scaling strategies)
    • Monitoring and backup configuration
  • Support testing, deployment, and contribute to documentation

Requirements

  • Strong experience with MSSQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Proven ability to reverse-engineer and restructure legacy schemas
  • Skilled in data migration, scripting, and cleansing
  • Experience working with Azure SQL Database and deploying production-grade setups
  • Understanding of modern database design principles and indexing strategies
  • Collaborative mindset, with experience supporting migration projects alongside development teams

Bonus Points

  • Exposure to Angular, NestJS, or TypeORM
  • Familiarity with Azure Portal, Key Vault, or Private Link
  • Experience working with GitHub, pull requests, and asynchronous team workflows
