System Business Analyst

Position overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Systems Analyst with experience in investment management to connect business needs with tech solutions. The ideal candidate will excel at gathering requirements, analyzing systems, and working with stakeholders to create effective solutions that align with company goals.

Candidates from Europe, Ukraine, and Asia must be able to cover at least 5-6 business hours within the EST timezone.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal/external stakeholders to analyze and define business and functional requirements to build fixed-income data products (fixed-income experience is a plus)
• Communicate effectively to conduct walkthroughs with the development team, QA, and stakeholders, and write requirements
• Take full responsibility and ownership of product features to ensure the development team and QA understand business deliverables and acceptance criteria, review test cases/scenarios, and perform UAT as needed
• Strong SQL skills are required to conduct data analysis, including diving into code (Stored Procs, Java) to understand and extrapolate business logic and document data flows based on data analysis
• Assist PO by providing input into backlog refinement and sprint planning, and help refine and validate user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Proactively raise obstacles and call out issues that may impact sprint delivery

Requirements

• Strong background in financial services, ideally but not mandatory - investment banking, including knowledge of equity, fixed income, derivatives, and other financial products
• Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing data from relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Proficient in understanding and documenting APIs using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI, and Postman, and knowledge of REST and SOAP principles
• Experience with systems documentation, and good knowledge of UML.
• Understanding of data source types (ability to analyze and document). For example, SFTP, REST APIs, data lakes, and data warehouses.
• Practical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
• Proven track record in creating detailed functional specifications, technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, workflows.
• Proactive in suggesting new ideas and improvements to processes, with a track record of driving change.
• Experience with Scrum, and Kanban, including active participation in ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and use of agile tools like JIRA, Confluence

Nice to have

• Practical experience with business analysis of Informatica and Pentaho jobs
• Certificates/ CFA would be a plus
• The ability to read Python code would be a plus
• Practical experience of business analysis in AWS cloud
• Practical experience with MS Fabric
• Practical experience with data quality assurance
• Practical experience with metadata management
• Practical experience with Snowflake
• Practical experience with MS SQL
