Ruby on Rails Engineer Offline
The product is a US-based no-code platform that helps creators, makers, and influencers monetize their activities.
Requirements
- Design & build highly scalable, high performance, responsive web applications.
- Take full ownership and responsibility for building, shipping, and maintaining core product features, end to end.
- Help out in building the backend infrastructure.
- Opportunity to scale and automate existing services while bringing
new innovations to life - Translation of requirements, designs and wireframes into high quality code.
- Identify and squash bugs
- Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, founders and product managers.
- Desired Skills & Experience:
5+ years of production experience with modern web frameworks - Ruby on Rails. - Should be comfortable with database schema design and leveraging SQL & NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, CouchDB, DynamoDB).
- Experience developing, consuming and transforming internal and 3rd party API's (REST and GraphQL).
- Experience with code quality and reusability practices (CI/CD for back-end & front-end repos).
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, design patterns.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including unit testing, code reviews, design documentation, debugging, troubleshooting, and agile development.
- Nive to have sound experience in developing scalable / distributed SaaS apps.
- Communication: You like discussing a plan upfront, welcome collaboration, and are an excellent verbal and written communicator.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Rails v4.2.x, MySQL 5.7 (soon to be 8.0), Sidekiq, Redis, bunch of outdated gemsRails is here to stay, so ideally if you are:
a) can understand the Rails system to help implement features
b) will improve things on the way (i.e. leave things better than they found them)
c) understand and riff on where a/b fit in the larger picture of breaking things out of Rails
d) can work vertically (read: full stack) in re: understanding how data flows to/from Rails and the rest of the stack
e) ideally is comfortable outside of Ruby and has some prior experience in both Typescript/Javascript, Python, and ops / infra
