DevOps Engineer/System Administrator (offline)

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer/System Administrator to join our team. As a DevOps Engineer/System Administrator with GeoGuard, you will perform deployment and maintenance of all our systems to ensure the company's backend infrastructure is running smoothly at all times. This person will work closely with the development team, maintaining open communication regarding servers, test environments, and advising on solutions.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years' relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent. You are proficient in Bash or Python; experience with Elastic Stack and/or comprehensive knowledge of security and compliance is a big plus. You are able to, and enjoy, working in small collaborative teams and have good communication and interpersonal skills when working with developers. You have experience working in short, agile, iterative development cycles and have a great passion working in Agile development process environments. You are a fast self-study and are quick in solving tasks.

Your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

Day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of IT infrastructure, troubleshooting any issues with it as they come in.
Working closely with the development team to assist with any infrastructure items, such as CI servers, test environments, and advising on relevant solutions.
Developing and improving the infrastructure to improve maintainability and cost.
Planning for new infrastructure requirements and ensure automation scripts are adequately planned for and created.
Writing and maintaining guidelines outlining steps required to prepare and support the environments.
Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the company's technologies, process and teams.
Understanding the company's goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company's performance.

Your skills & qualifications:

A solid all-rounder with IT knowledge of the most widely used software in the Linux ecosystem: Ubuntu, Nginx, MySQL, PHP, HAProxy and Node.js.
Competent and knowledgeable of monitoring and reporting tool such as Nagios.
Experience with cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services, Rackspace or Google Cloud Platform.
Good experience with version control systems such as Git.
Experience with configuration management systems like Ansible.
Knowledge of world best practices.
Good written and spoken technical English enough to discuss issues with teams remotely.
