As a DevOps Engineer you’ll be working on a Cloud native platform which provides a B2B platform across Africa and Latin America. You’ll be part of a team of engineers which help maintain and improve our DevOps practices, build and deployment pipelines as well as identifying production issues and performance bottlenecks. Helping to set, monitor and refine performance and availability metrics and enabling tools and automation to assist in freeing up the engineering team from constant manual and repetitive tasks.

What you will be doing

Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure

Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats

Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’

Run the production environment by monitoring availability, gather and analyse metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding, by taking a holistic view of platform health

Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our software and platforms

Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve

Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple distributed software applications

Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures

Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning

Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives

What you should have:

Excellent teamworking and communication skills

Knowledge of programming & Scripting languages

Strong problem-solving skills

Good attention to detail

Excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

Good understanding of DevOps principles and practices

Experience using public clouds such as AWS, Azure, etc

Preferred Knowledge:

Knowledge of Jenkins and GitHub

Knowledge of Monitoring best practices

Experience administrating both Windows & Linux environments

Good understanding of eCommerce, logistics, FMCG

Good understanding of payments/banking ecosystem (Africa/LatAm)

Experience in distributed systems design

Worked with platforms such as Magento, Shopify, etc
