Job Description
Essential Requirements:
β’ Significant experience in Linux systems administration (at least 2 years)
β’ Significant knowledge and experience in Python programming
β’ Experience in Linux Shell scripting and Git
β’ Basic knowledge in networking
β’ Strong troubleshooting skills
β’ Good skills in interpersonal communication, team work, and independent learning
β’ Good English, both spoken and written
Will be an advantage:
β’ Advanced Linux knowledge, such as Systemd and LVM
β’ Experience in software packaging (DEB, RPM)
β’ Experience in Linux Container technology (Docker, podman)
β’ Advanced Jenkins knowledge, like Groovy programming
Job Responsibilities
The role includes:
β’ Develop and maintain the tools and build framework (see below)
β’ Operating and troubleshooting the automated build system
β’ Administer on-premise Debian servers
β’ Support for Linux needs of SW development teams
Department/Project Description
Harmonic is a leading provider of innovative broadband solutions that deliver video, voice and data to communications providers around the world. GL team participates in development, QA and support of several generations of these solutions.
The Linux Tools team:
β’ Develops and maintains a tool set and a framework for building Harmonic Product. These include a
variety of Linux systems, including Embedded Systems, Data Center Servers and Containerized
solutions. This framework builds Debian packages and Docker images, and assembes a deliverable
product.
β’ Maintains on-premise Debian servers and VMs for running this framework. The build system
consists of an array of Python, Perl and Bash modules, and uses REST API servers and clients, and
some Jenkins automation.
