Scrum Master (offline)

The Scrum Master is a key member of the Technology team.

Responsibilities:
• Act as Scrum Master for scrum teams, coaching the teams to achieve higher levels of agile maturity at a sustainable pace
• Guide teams to be self-organized and motivate teams to focus on team goals/objectives
• Remove impediments and act as a change agent to implement scrum across the organization
• Facilitate the agile ceremonies, such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospective, daily scrums and sprint demos
• Ability to influence without direct authority
• Facilitate discussion, decision making and conflict resolution Communication
• Foster internal team communication by building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged and with an emphasis on problem-solving
• Assist with communication with the broader IT teams and business stakeholders to improve transparency and visibility into the team’s progress and impediments
• Support and ensure that methodologies are followed
• Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing (e.g burn down charts, etc.)

Qualifications/Experience:
• Certified scrum master / scrum practitioner
• At least 3 years experience in a scrum master role for a software development team that was applying Scrum principles, practices and theory
• Knowledge and experience of agile techniques: user stories, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, continuous testing, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate ideas to both technical and business constituencies
• While not having direct management responsibility, the position manages activities through influence, accountability, and ownership, functioning in an agile environment.
• Desire to relentlessly drive continuous improvement and adaption within teams.
• Coaching mindset to guide teams through different stages of development.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and influence skills.
• Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
• Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
• Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as the definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
• Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
• Experience with JIRA and Confluence required
