DevOps Engineer Offline

What you bring to the role:

- 5+ years of software development experience- ideally in a SaaS/product development company;

- You are a generalist and have broad skills in DevOps/infrastructure as code, databases, performance optimization, application design, and networking - especially application layer protocols like HTTP, SFTP, SMTP, etc.;

- Language polyglot: you have experience in one or more of the following- Python, Go, Java;

- Experience in building and scaling systems that use SQL as well as NoSQL datastores - preferably experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, RedShift;

- Experience with data ecosystem tools such as Kafka, Protobuf/Thrift, and Spark/Flink/Storm, and with data-flow programming tools such as Apache NiFi, Apache Beam will be a plus;

- Experience with CI/CD tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins. We follow modern DevOps practices at VGS, and experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Terraform will be a plus;

- An understanding of how to build for scale, but able to make pragmatic choices to move quickly - you have a strong bias for action;

- Comfortable working in roles that at times may be customer-facing;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

- Experience successfully working with distributed teams across time zones will be a plus.
