About the Role:
We are currently seeking a talented and collaborative DevOps Engineer. Our candidate must be able to think on their feet and rapidly identify and explain infrastructure issues and challenges. Day-to-day activities will range from diagnosing and addressing alerts, to improving monitoring, to hands-on systems administration and operational support, requiring self-motivation and a wide range of skills and experience. This individual will also be fairly autonomous and be expected to contribute to a wide range of high-impact projects across the organization. The candidate must have strong operations skills and can operate in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• An autonomous member of an agile team responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining Utility Cloud’s web-based business applications built on Microsoft and AWS technologies
• Address operational issues as they occur
• Improve monitoring and write playbooks for common issues
• Test system software upgrades and own keeping all the systems up to date
• Look for opportunities to improve the current infrastructure from a cost, maintainability and stability perspectives
• Monitor systems for usage metrics and notify management when upgrades/downgrades are required
• Maintain terraform scripts

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or a related discipline)
• 5+ years of professional experience
•Strong understanding of SaaS products running on AWS cloud infrastructure
• Be able to provide advice and leadership on issues such as centralized monitoring, operational alarms and alerts and cost optimization
• Experience with Windows server and Linux administration
• Experience with applications using SQL Server and MongoDB
• Strong knowledge of client/server application development on the cloud
• Strong knowledge of terraform
• Experience with Python is a great plus
• Enjoys collaborating in a team environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
