Hours: 20–30 hours per week (option to grow)
Location: Remote (Europe)
Rate: €18–25/hour to start (growth to €30–35+ with ownership)
About the role
We run and maintain multiple client platforms across e-commerce, pharma, and professional services. Our stack includes WordPress, Mautic, n8n, and modern web frontends (Astro / Remix).
We are looking for a reliable Automation & Web Ops Specialist who takes ownership of day-to-day operations and client requests, keeps systems running, fixes issues independently, and documents their work.
This is not a “just follow instructions” role. You should enjoy understanding systems, improving stability, and learning new tools.
What you will do
- Maintain and update WordPress sites (content changes, block layouts, plugins, updates, staging → production)
- Build and maintain Mautic assets (emails, forms, segments, campaigns, troubleshooting)
- Maintain and improve n8n workflows (webhooks, API calls, error handling, retries, basic JS)
- Investigate and resolve incidents (failed automations, broken forms, email issues)
- Follow a structured staging / production process
- Document changes clearly (what changed, where, how to roll back)
- Communicate clearly via tickets and async tools
Required skills
- Solid experience with WordPress (blocks, plugins, basic theme understanding)
- Practical experience with n8n (nodes, credentials, webhooks, error workflows)
- Experience with Mautic or similar marketing automation tools
- Basic understanding of APIs (REST, JSON, webhooks)
- Basic Linux / Docker familiarity (logs, env vars, restarting services)
- Clear written communication in English
(German is a plus; using translate/LLMs is absolutely fine)
Nice to have
- Email deliverability basics (SMTP, DKIM, DMARC)
- MJML or HTML/CSS for emails
- Basic SQL or database understanding
- Experience working with SOPs and staging environments
What this role is NOT
- No ERPNext or Odoo work (for now)
- No deep frontend engineering (Astro / Remix handled elsewhere)
- No client sales or meetings required
How we work
- Clear ticket-based task intake
- Defined “definition of done” for every task
- Staging-first mindset
- Focus on stability, clarity, and ownership
- Long-term collaboration preferred
Compensation
- €18–25/hour to start (depending on experience)
- Rate increases with independence and ownership
- Paid trial tasks before long-term engagement
How to apply
Please send:
- A short introduction (background + why this role fits you)
- Your hourly rate and availability
- Examples of relevant work (GitHub, workflows, screenshots, or short descriptions)
- Your country / timezone
Shortlisted candidates will receive a paid practical test task (2–4 hours).

Middle Wordpress developer
Part-time · Full Remote · Worldwide · 4 years of experience · English - C1You're a solid developer looking for work that has context, not just tickets. You're looking for an environment where your craft matters and where you can grow into stronger technical ownership...You're a solid developer looking for work that has context, not just tickets. You want to understand why things are built, not just how. You're looking for an environment where your craft matters and where you can grow into stronger technical ownership over time.
This role sits within our CMS Practice. Your primary work will be WordPress, but we value engineers who think in CMS patterns, not just platform-specific tricks. Experience with Drupal, Strapi, Shopify, or other content platforms signals the kind of adaptability we're looking for.
You'll work alongside our CMS Practice Lead on long-term projects in healthcare, education, and self-development, where stability, scalability, and user impact matter. We're building our team proactively, which means this starts as a flexible contractor engagement. As work and collaboration develop, so does the scope.
The work
You'll build, extend, and maintain WordPress platforms: custom themes, plugins, integrations. You'll own features end-to-end across the stack, not just fragments.
This includes:
- Implementing new features with attention to long-term reliability
- Refactoring and stabilizing legacy codebases over time
- Collaborating with the Practice Lead, PMs, and other engineers to clarify intent, estimate effort, and surface risks early
- Coordinating with DevOps on deployments and environment management
- Supporting content models, migrations, and analytics logic as needed
- Participating in code reviews and helping improve team practices
- Occasionally joining client conversations to explain trade-offs and align on solutions
Who tends to thrive here
You write clean, maintainable code and care about the systems you build. You learn quickly and ask good questions. You're comfortable with ambiguity and can create structure when things aren't fully defined.
You communicate early when things shift. You see yourself as responsible for outcomes, not just lines of code. You're open to feedback and curious about how to get better.
Technical expectations- WordPress Hands-on experience in a real team environment (ideally 3 to 5 devs). Confident with custom themes and plugins, ACF, custom post types and taxonomies. Practical experience with Gutenberg, Elementor, or WPBakery. Good grasp of template hierarchy, hooks and filters. Multisite is a plus.
- Front-end Strong HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript (ES6+). Responsive layouts, cross-browser support. Accessibility and performance optimization is a plus.
- Integrations and APIs Third-party and REST APIs, webhooks and data sync. Experience with marketing/analytics tooling (GTM a plus). HubSpot and search plugins (e.g., SearchWP) are a plus.
- Auth and Security Role/permission management, basic custom auth flows. WordPress security best practices.
- SEO and Performance Strong fundamentals: structured data basics, sitemaps, Open Graph. Understanding of Core Web Vitals. Experience with SEO plugins (Yoast, Rank Math). AI/LLM search optimization is a plus.
- Data and Scale Content migration, import/export. Caching (object/page/CDN basics). Experience supporting larger sites is a plus. Ability to troubleshoot performance issues.
- Workflow Git, local environments (Docker/Local/etc.), staging to production deployments. Comfortable with documentation and CI/CD concepts.
- AI Experience with AI tools for developers (Copilot, Windsurf, Claude, Cursor).
- Nice to have Drupal, Composer, multilingual (WPML/Polylang), consent platforms (e.g., OneTrust), work with design systems or Storybook.
How we workWe're a Deliberately Developmental Organization. Feedback is part of how we operate, not an annual event. We care about how you evolve as an engineer and as a person, not only what you ship this sprint.
You'll have regular check-ins with the Practice Lead. We'll be direct about what's working and what's not. We expect the same from you.
What we offer- Meaningful work with purpose-driven clients
- Access to Foundational Leadership Course (Stagen) and DevSprint self-development sessions
- Referral program
- Flexible hours, remote-first
- Opportunity to work across CMS platforms (Drupal, Strapi, Shopify) as projects allow
Practical details- Engagement type: Contractor
- English: B2+ required, including ability to participate in client meetings
- Availability: Core overlap with US afternoon/evening (EST) expected
- Start: Part-time/flexible, ramping as projects develop
How to applySend a brief note and your CV or portfolio. Include:
- Why this role and context feel right for you now
- When you'd be available to start
- Your expected hourly rate
- Your comfort level with client communication
