VM Manufacturing

About us

We design and manufacture high-tech industrial equipment and build the software that powers it.

VM Manufacturing is an international product company with American roots. Our headquarters are in California, our teams work across several countries, and our equipment is used by companies in many industries around the world.

We build our own software, both for our customers and for our internal operations. We focus on solutions that are reliable, secure and easy to maintain.

About the role

We are looking for an engineer who will take ownership of our web applications and services: from the technical decision to launch, support and further development.

This is not a "close the ticket" role. We need someone who thinks about how the whole system fits together, keeps the code readable and maintainable, and is ready to lead others as the team grows.

Tech stack

TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL

What you will do

- Develop the frontend and backend of web applications and services.
- Design APIs and data structures; integrate external services and AI models.
- Make technical decisions, plan and estimate tasks.
- Work with existing code: improve it, reduce technical debt and fix root causes, not symptoms.
- Ship changes to production and own their stability after release.
- Follow the company's security rules and keep documentation clear and up to date.

Hard skills: what we expect

- 5+ years of commercial web development with production experience.
- Strong TypeScript (must-have).
- React and Next.js: you build production-ready interfaces on your own.
- Node.js and NestJS: backend and REST API design and development.
- PostgreSQL: schema design, complex queries, indexes, safe migrations.
- Experience with deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting in production.
- Clean architecture mindset: readable code, a single source of truth, clear structure.
- Daily use of AI development tools: you set the task, review the result and never ship code you don't understand.
- At least one product you brought to launch and supported afterwards, with a clear personal contribution.
- Willingness to learn Go and rewrite parts of the backend in it if needed.
- English at B2 level or higher for documentation and daily communication with an international team.

Nice to have

- Commercial experience with Go.
- Docker.
- LLM integration via API, RAG.
- CI/CD and automated testing.
- Mentoring or leading developers.

Soft skills: what matters to us

We hire not only for technical skills. How a person works and takes responsibility matters just as much.

- Ownership. You keep your commitments, check your own work and bring what you start to the result.
- Leadership. You take initiative, propose solutions and can lead others.
- Reliability. You handle data, access and systems with care and follow the rules even when cutting corners would be faster.
- Honesty. You speak openly about mistakes and difficulties, don't overstate your experience and warn about delays in advance.
- Clear communication. You explain technical decisions simply and work well with colleagues in different countries and time zones.
- Long-term mindset. You want to work with us for years and grow together with the company.

What we offer

- Work on the company's own products, not outsourcing projects.
- Real influence on technical decisions and minimal bureaucracy.
- Fully remote work and long-term cooperation in an international team.
- Market-level pay with regular reviews and a bonus system.

Payment is hourly, based on the time actually worked. The rate and workload are agreed before we start.

Hiring process

1. Intro call with a recruiter
2. Interview about your experience, approach to work and stack
3. Technical task
4. Task review
5. Final interview and offer

How to apply

Send your CV and a short cover letter answering three questions:
1. Which technologies from our stack have you used commercially, for how long and on which projects?
2. Which finished product have you built, and what exactly was your personal contribution?
3. What is the hardest problem you solved at work, and how?

Applications without answers to these questions will not be considered.
