4. Ad-hoc and Periodic Tasks:

• Assisting the Finance team with miscellaneous data reconciliation tasks as needed.
• Generating, exporting, and providing required data or reports from the system upon request from management or adjacent teams.

About the role

We are building our business intelligence capability from the ground up and have not yet committed to a BI platform. We're looking for a hands-on BI expert who has worked across multiple BI tools, can evaluate the options against our real needs — data security, scalability, cost, embeddability — recommend the right stack, and then implement it end to end.

This is both a decision-making and a build role. You won't inherit a fixed toolset; you'll help define it.

What you'll own

Phase 1 — Evaluate & select

• Audit our data sources, reporting needs, stakeholders, and constraints (security, budget, team skills).
• Benchmark candidate platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Grafana, Looker, Superset) against those criteria.
• Present a reasoned recommendation with clear trade-offs on cost/licensing, data security, scalability, and maintainability.

Phase 2 — Build

• Stand up the chosen platform from scratch: connections, data models, governance, permissions and row-level/role-based access, first production dashboards.
• Establish standards for reporting, naming, and documentation.

Ongoing — Operate & scale

• Prepare regular (daily/weekly/monthly) and ad-hoc reports across finance, payments, operations, sales, marketing, and product.
• Gather stakeholder requirements, draft functional specs and wireframes, validate data accuracy, and finalize reports with stakeholders.
• Implement scheduled email summaries and event-based (trigger) notifications to departments.
• Automate data collection, processing, and aggregation via SQL/scripts; reduce manual effort and speed up refresh cycles.
• Design and maintain database schemas (OLTP/OLAP); write high-performance SQL, apply indexing, optimize complex JOINs; ensure data integrity and manage access controls.
• Set up secure export procedures (CSV/Parquet/JSON) and automate data dumps for internal teams and external partners, with quality and completeness checks.
• Advise the team on BI best practices, run trainings/workshops, troubleshoot incidents, and maintain documentation and user guides in Confluence.

• Production, hands-on experience with at least 2–3 BI platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Grafana, Looker, Superset) — not just "familiarity," but having built dashboards, prepared data models, and administered the tool.
• Demonstrated experience selecting, migrating, or standing up a BI tool/platform — you have made, or strongly influenced, the "which tool" decision at least once.
• Ability to reason about platform trade-offs: licensing/cost models (per-user vs. capacity vs. open-source), data connectivity, self-service vs. governed reporting, embedding/white-label, scalability, on-prem vs. cloud, and security/compliance.
• Strong SQL: complex queries, analytical/window functions, JOIN and query optimization.
• Data modeling: relational and analytical models (OLTP/OLAP); structuring data for reporting; consistency across sources.
• Automation: ETL concepts, scheduling, automating collection/processing/reporting workflows.
• Security mindset for regulated data: role-based / row-level access, SSO, audit trails, awareness of data-residency constraints.
• Clear communicator — can explain findings and justify technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders; comfortable gathering requirements.
• Documentation discipline (Confluence).
• English: Upper-Intermediate+.
• Overlap with CET working hours (remote-first).

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded / white-label analytics (serving dashboards to external clients).
• Modern data stack exposure (dbt, warehouse-native modeling) and Python for automation.
• Prior EMI / PSP / open banking data experience and awareness of regulatory reporting.
• Experience running a tool evaluation or migration as a documented, criteria-based process.
