Project Overview / Assignment Overview

Join a long-term international engineering project delivered by Jabil and work on advanced embedded camera and video technologies for a global leader in smart automation and control systems.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Camera / Embedded Linux Engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware and deep inside the Linux and Android camera stack—solving the complex problems that happen where image sensors, drivers, kernel, ISP, multimedia frameworks, and Android come together.

You’ll contribute to a unified camera technology platform powering multiple product families used in conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, home offices, and enterprise environments worldwide. Your work will have a direct impact on camera performance, video quality, system stability, and the overall user experience of commercially deployed products.

Deep Camera & Embedded Linux Engineering

Rather than working only at the application layer, you’ll have the opportunity to investigate and solve problems across the complete camera pipeline, from hardware interfaces and Linux kernel drivers through Android and multimedia frameworks.

Solve Problems That Require Real Engineering

You may find yourself analyzing kernel logs and driver behavior, tracing frames through V4L2 and the ISP, debugging MIPI CSI-2 communication, investigating Android Camera HAL behavior, tuning GStreamer pipelines, or determining whether a difficult problem originates in the sensor, hardware interface, kernel, driver, multimedia stack, or higher software layers.

Technical Ownership & Global Product Impact

We value senior engineers who want more than a predefined list of implementation tasks. You’ll have the opportunity to own complex technical topics from investigation through solution, contribute to architecture and engineering decisions, and work directly with globally distributed technical stakeholders.

Required Expertise (Must have):

· 8+ years of embedded/low-level development experience, with 4–5+ years focused on Linux / Android BSP and camera or multimedia subsystem integration

· Strong C/C++ programming skills

· Strong experience with Linux kernel camera drivers and V4L2 (including sub-device drivers)

· Proven experience integrating and maintaining Android Camera HAL

· Hands-on experience with camera sensor bring-up and board-level integration

· Experience working with Device Tree / DTBO overlays, including power sequencing, reset, and clock (MCLK) configuration

· Experience with ISP and image quality (IQ) pipelines, including:

o 3A algorithms (AE, AWB, AF),

o Lens Shading Correction (LSC),

o Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR)

· Ability to debug complex camera pipelines across kernel and user space

· Experience with Git/Gerrit and build systems (Yocto or AOSP)

· Strong understanding of embedded Linux and Android system architecture

· Experience with camera validation and debugging frameworks.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the manner to effectively collaborate for the successful project delivery and to take ownership of complex technical challenges.

Nice to have

· Experience with Qualcomm’s CHI pipeline

· Experience with ISP pipelines and proprietary HAL implementations

· Knowledge of multimedia frameworks such as GStreamer or OpenCV

· Experience working with high-resolution or multi-camera systems

· Familiarity with automated validation frameworks for camera subsystems

· Understanding of Android CTS/GTS compliance and metadata policies

Expected Deliverables and Areas of Contribution

· Take responsibility for cross-platform camera architecture and board bring-up deliverables across Linux and Android platforms.

· Develop and maintain Linux camera drivers, including V4L2 sub-device drivers.

· Integrate, maintain, and optimize Android Camera HAL components.

· Design and validate Device Tree / DTBO overlays, including power, reset, and MCLK configuration.

· Develop automated media graph validation, streaming verification, and long-running stress test suites.

· Tune image quality pipelines using vendor-provided IQ tools.

· Collaborate with project hardware teams to validate and troubleshoot CSI timing, PHY configuration, and camera sensor integration.

· Collaborate with project silicon and camera vendors to support platform integration and resolve technical issues.

· Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to camera bring-up and platform integration.

· Support performance optimization, platform stability, and long-term maintainability.

Project Overview / Assignment Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android BSP Engineer to join a long-term international engineering project focused on the development of next-generation embedded Android/Linux platforms for advanced professional products used worldwide.

As part of the firmware engineering team, you’ll work on sophisticated control systems, digital media, and unified communications solutions deployed in conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, home offices, and enterprise environments. These are real, commercially deployed products where platform performance, multimedia quality, reliability, and hardware/software integration truly matter.

Work Deep Inside the Android Platform

This is not typical Android application development. You’ll work close to the hardware and deep within the Android platform, contributing to BSP development, platform integration, optimization, debugging, and system-level problem solving.

You’ll investigate problems that rarely have simple answers—working across multiple layers of the system to understand what is happening, why it is happening, and how to solve it properly.

Real Engineering Ownership

You’ll work directly with real hardware and real product environments, collaborating with experienced hardware, firmware, Android, Linux, and application engineers across multiple countries.

Your contribution will go beyond implementing predefined tasks. We value engineers who can analyze complex technical problems, propose solutions, make sound engineering decisions, and take ownership from investigation through implementation and validation.

You’ll also have the opportunity to exchange knowledge with highly experienced engineers and deepen your expertise across Android internals, BSP development, embedded Linux, multimedia, and hardware/software integration.

Why This Project?

If you enjoy bringing up hardware, debugging across the Android stack, optimizing complex embedded systems, and solving the difficult problems that sit between hardware and software, this is an opportunity to work on technically challenging products while continuing to grow as a senior Android platform engineer.
