Sony Music operates a global direct-to-consumer e-commerce ecosystem for artist, label, merchandise, pre-order, and campaign-specific stores.

Shopify is used as the core commerce platform, with custom themes, applications, extensions, and integrations with internal systems and external D2C, logistics, and fulfillment services.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining Shopify-based artist stores and supporting high-traffic product launches, pre-orders, merchandise campaigns, and pop-up stores.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain Shopify storefronts for artists and music releases.
• Build and customize Shopify themes, templates, and reusable sections.
• Implement custom storefront functionality using Liquid and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Develop integrations with Shopify APIs.
• Build and maintain custom Shopify apps and extensions where required.
• Integrate Shopify with internal and external systems.
• Support product launches, pre-orders, bundles, merchandise drops, and promotional campaigns.
• Optimize storefront performance, UX, SEO, and conversion.
• Ensure stores can handle significant traffic spikes during major releases and campaigns.
• Troubleshoot production issues and maintain existing Shopify stores.

• Collaborate with D2C, product, design, marketing, e-commerce, and engineering teams.

   

Requirements:

• Commercial experience with Shopify development.
• Strong knowledge of Liquid.
• Strong JavaScript skills.
• Solid HTML and CSS.
• Experience developing and customizing Shopify themes.
• Experience with Shopify APIs, preferably GraphQL.
• Good understanding of Shopify products, collections, variants, metafields, and metaobjects.
• Experience implementing custom sections and reusable theme components.
• Understanding of responsive development and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with storefront performance optimization and technical SEO.
• Experience with Git and modern development workflows.

Backend / Integrations

• Experience developing custom Shopify apps.
• Experience with Shopify Admin API and Storefront API.
• Experience with webhooks and event-driven integrations.
• Understanding of OAuth and third-party API integrations.
• Backend development experience with Node.js/TypeScript or Python.
• Experience integrating Shopify with external systems such as ERP, OMS, WMS, PIM, CRM, fulfillment, or logistics platforms.
• Understanding of databases and cloud infrastructure.
