PHP Technical lead

Remote | Full-time

Artigaming is an international product company in the iGaming domain, building high-load platforms for online entertainment. As we grow, we are looking for an experienced Technical Lead Developer to help us build a scalable microservices architecture and elevate our engineering maturity.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a backend-strong engineer who can write code, lead a team, make technical decisions, and shape processes.

Responsibilities:

• Design, maintain, and develop systems using PHP (Yii2) and Node.js
• Implement new features and refactor existing code
• Lead the transition from monolith to microservices
• Conduct code reviews and uphold clean code principles
• Mentor engineers and assist in solving complex technical challenges
• Plan and improve engineering workflows and development processes
• Collaborate with product managers, PMs, and cross-functional teams (Jira, Scrum)
• Set up CI/CD pipelines, monitor services, manage logs and cron jobs
• Administer servers and manage Cloudflare (WAF, caching, rate limiting)

• Be available online for prompt response to critical bugs

   

Requirements:

• 6+ years of commercial experience with PHP 7.2+
• 1+ year of production experience with Yii2, including custom modules/components
• English level: B1 or higher
• Experience with Node.js for internal services, bots, or workers
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD (testing, deployment, linters)
• Proficient in Docker (custom configs, supervisor, CLI utilities)
• Knowledge of Apache2 (mpm-worker, QoS, load balancing)
• Experience with RabbitMQ (queues, events, async processing)
• Ability to write meaningful test coverage using PHPUnit or Codeception
• Confident working with Linux/Unix, CLI, and system administration
• Strong knowledge of MySQL 8+: normalization, indexing, scaling
• Experience working in Jira, Agile/Scrum environment
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean code practices
• Experience managing Cloudflare (WAF, caching, DDoS protection)

• High level of autonomy, proactivity, and responsibility

   

Nice to have:

• Grafana + Prometheus + Loki + Alloy
• Knowledge of OWASP principles
• Redis
• Experience with Telegram bots (Node.js)
• Kafka
• Background in gambling or high-load systems

• Practical use of AI in development

Description

Artigaming is expanding its team and looking for a Junior PHP Developer to join our product team in the iGaming sphere. We build innovative solutions with no unnecessary bureaucracy, value initiative, and support a healthy team environment.

Requirements:

– 1+ year of commercial experience with PHP 7+ / 8
– Basic knowledge of OOP principles and SOLID
– Experience working with Yii2 framework
– Understanding of REST APIs and integrations
– Familiarity with MySQL (basic queries, joins)
– Basic experience with Git (clone, commit, merge, branching)
– Familiarity with debugging tools (Xdebug, Postman)
– Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum workflows

Responsibilities:

– Develop and maintain backend logic using PHP and modern frameworks
– Work with relational databases and write optimized SQL queries
– Develop RESTful API endpoints
– Collaborate with Senior Developers on project architecture
– Participate in sprints and daily team meetings
– Follow internal coding standards and best practices

Would be a plus:

– Experience with Docker, Apache2
– Understanding of composer and dependency management
– Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
– Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
– Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ
