Amplify is one of the most established bundle and upsell apps on the Shopify App Store. Thousands of merchants use our product to grow revenue through bundles, upsells, and cross-sells.

We're a profitable, fully remote startup with a lean, experienced team and very little organizational overhead.

We're looking for a Lead Engineer to take ownership of our technical direction and help shape how we build software for the next stage of the company.

Remote across Europe. This role is fully remote and open to candidates currently living in Europe.

THE ROLE

You'll be the senior technical authority at Amplify.

You'll own architecture and major engineering decisions, stay hands-on with the code, lead the development team, and work closely with the General Manager on turning business goals into technical execution.

A major part of the role is helping us move toward a much more AI-native development process — where agents become deeply integrated into how software is specified, built, tested, reviewed, and maintained.

This is not a pure management role. We want someone who leads by building.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own the architecture, technical direction, and major engineering decisions.
• Lead and mentor the development team.
• Stay hands-on with backend development and difficult technical problems.
• Drive the adoption of AI agents across the development process.
• Improve testing, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and developer productivity.
• Keep a mature production system evolving without unnecessary rewrites or complexity.
• Translate business goals into practical technical plans.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Strong senior-level backend engineering experience, ideally in TypeScript / Node.
• Experience acting as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, or similar.
• Deep technical judgment and the confidence to be the company's main engineering authority.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern AI coding tools and agentic development workflows.
• Experience owning and evolving mature production systems.
• Comfortable leading a small engineering team while remaining close to the code.
• Strong communication and a pragmatic approach to engineering.

Our stack is NestJS, Vue 3 / Vite, PostgreSQL, and GCP. Exact stack experience is useful, but strong adjacent experience is perfectly fine.

NICE TO HAVE

• Shopify or e-commerce experience.
• NestJS, Vue, or GCP experience.
• Founder, founding-engineer, or early-stage startup experience.
• Experience introducing AI-first development practices across a team.

Role overview

Amplify is looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to own our go-to-market and acquisition end to end. This is a hands-on role for someone who owns the strategy and lives in the ad accounts – positioning, channels, and the numbers.

You'll work directly with the leadership team to shape how Amplify wins against the rest of the Shopify ecosystem. On a small team, you'll own marketing end to end – this is for someone who wants that accountability and the autonomy that comes with it. As we grow, there's room to build and lead a team.

Key responsibilities

• Own Amplify's go-to-market strategy – positioning, messaging, and how we win merchants
• Plan, build, and optimize paid acquisition across Google, Meta, Shopify App Store – you name it
• Own the growth funnel end to end: acquisition, activation, and the metrics that matter (CAC, ROAS, etc)
• Run experiments across channels, landing pages, and offers
• Sharpen how we position against competitors in the bundling and upsell space
• Partner with Product and CS to turn customer insight into messaging and campaigns

• Report clearly on what's driving growth and what to scale next

   

Requirements

• 5+ years in growth or performance marketing, with real ownership of acquisition and GTM
• A track record of driving measurable growth – you can point to numbers you moved
• Hands-on expertise running paid acquisition (Google, Meta, and similar channels)
• Strong grasp of positioning and messaging
• Comfortable owning metrics and making decisions from data
• Self-directed and accountable: you thrive owning outcomes on a small team
• Experience marketing to Shopify merchants, DTC brands, or the e-commerce ecosystem is a strong plus
• Experience with B2B SaaS or direct-sales go-to-market is a plus
