Requirements
- 1+ year of experience in Payments, Gaming, Fintech, or related industries
- Basic understanding of payment systems, payment providers, and transaction flows
- Familiarity with AML, KYC, and fraud prevention principles
- Experience processing withdrawals and handling payment operations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures consistently
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify irregularities and suspicious behavior
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment
- Experience working in shift-based or 24/7 operations is a plus
- English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher

Responsibilities
- Process customer withdrawals accurately and within SLA timelines
- Monitor payment queues and ensure timely transaction handling
- Verify transactions according to internal procedures and compliance requirements
- Identify suspicious transactions, fraud patterns, or anomalies and escalate them when necessary
- Work closely with Risk, Anti-Fraud, Support, and Payments teams
- Handle high-volume transaction workflows efficiently
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and operational quality
- Report recurring issues and suggest process improvements
- Follow AML, KYC, and fraud prevention procedures
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational demands

We are looking for an experienced AML / Compliance / Financial Crime professional to join our team in Malta and take responsibility for the MLRO function.

This role could be a great opportunity for a Senior AML Officer, AML Manager, Deputy MLRO, Compliance Manager, Financial Crime Manager or senior Legal & Compliance professional who is ready to step into an MLRO position.

What you’ll be responsible for:
• Overseeing and maintaining the company’s AML/CFT and financial crime framework
• Reviewing higher-risk customers, merchants, transactions and business relationships
• Overseeing KYC/KYB, EDD and transaction monitoring activities
• Reviewing suspicious activity and determining whether external reporting is required
• Preparing and submitting suspicious transaction/activity reports where required
• Acting as an AML/CFT point of contact with relevant Maltese authorities
• Supporting regulatory requests, audits, inspections and remediation programmes
• Advising on sanctions, PEPs, adverse media and other financial crime risks
• Monitoring AML/CFT regulatory developments in Malta and the EU
• Working closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, Product and Technology teams

What we’re looking for:
• Relevant senior-level experience in AML/CFT, Financial Crime, Compliance and/or Legal
• Strong practical knowledge of AML/CFT and a risk-based approach
• Hands-on experience with KYC/KYB, EDD, transaction monitoring and suspicious activity investigations
• Strong understanding of beneficial ownership and financial crime risks
• Ability to make independent, well-reasoned and documented risk-based decisions
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior management
• Excellent written and spoken English

MLRO experience is not mandatory. We are open to strong senior AML/Compliance/Legal professionals who have the knowledge, judgement and professional maturity to take on the MLRO function.

Experience in payments, electronic money, banking, card acquiring or fintech will be a strong advantage.
