About the project

We're preparing to rebuild an inherited Go microservices codebase for an insurtech client (US market). The code was written by a previous team and handed over "as is." Before we commit to refactoring or rewriting, we need an independent technical audit from an experienced Go developer. Your report will drive the per-service decision: accept as-is, refactor, or rewrite.

Scope

Audit ~11 Go repositories (microservices + shared SDK/utils modules) across four dimensions:

1. Security — vulnerabilities, hardcoded secrets, dependencies with known CVEs, service-to-service auth.
2. Code quality — architecture, technical debt, error handling, test coverage, idiomatic Go.
3. Performance — goroutine/resource leaks, DB usage (N+1, pooling, timeouts, transactions), context handling.
4. Readiness for handover — how maintainable the code is for a new team (docs, CI/CD, migrations, bus factor).

Stack: Go 1.17 and 1.20 (both EOL — upgrade will be a separate recommendation), gRPC, Kong API Gateway, protobuf contracts, a dedicated secrets service, microservices architecture.

Toolchain: go vet, staticcheck, golangci-lint, gosec, govulncheck, osv-scanner, go test -cover -race — automated pass plus manual review of security-critical paths and architecture.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Senior Automation QA Engineer (Python) to join our team in Lviv!

What You'll get to do:

• Understand and discuss business requirements along with the Team Leader, Business Analysts, Project Managers, and other parties involved.
• Responsible for the entire testing activity: from building the test framework to test execution, from gap analysis of the existing solutions to extending those according to the project requirements.
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for Functional & Non-Functional scenarios.
• Creating, maintaining, and reporting upon Regression Test suites.
• Define and establish an automation strategy and process for Web Applications (mostly Back End).
• Creating Test Plans according to internal procedures.
• Take ownership and responsibility for the design and development of all aspects of automated testing, along with creation, execution and maintenance of automated tests using scripts and automation tools.
• Document and report bugs following the company guidelines.
• Regular reports of the progress and current activities.
• Ability to understand complex technical architecture.

What You need to know:

• 3-5 years’ experience in Automation testing (Backend side) on Python, Pytest.
• Experience in working closely with the development team when performing testing activities as part of the same team.
• Familiarity with Test Case Management and Bug Tracking tools, preferably TestRail Jira.
• Familiar with: REST web services & API testing tools.
• Knowledge in working with CI tools: preferably GitLab-CI etc. Accuracy in reporting issues, all steps to reproduce and the issue’s behavior.
• Experience in creating test specifications and test cases according to development requirements, maintaining them regularly updated, and creating business cases according to development requirements – Test Rail.
• Experience with White Box, Grey Box and Black Box testing.
• Familiarity in applying Decision Tables when dealing with complex business logic.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar.
• Fluent in English.

• Understanding of application flow/ business from an end user, a technical person (developer) and a client point of view.
• Experience in working with relational DBs, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience in load testing, preferably with Locust.
