In this role, you will

• Keep our Kubernetes infrastructure smooth and self-healing, maintaining manifests that power a high-load, real-time product
• Fine-tune Karpenter so our nodes scale up and down exactly when they need to, no waste, no lag
• Build the alerting nervous system of our infra, piping critical issues straight to Slack before they become incidents
• Design Grafana dashboards that give the team a clear, real-time view of both tech health and product metrics
• Set up Firebase alerts for Cloud Functions to catch issues at the source
• Roll out Artifactory (e.g. JFrog) and unlock automated testing on CI, making releases faster and safer
• Own cost control and optimization, turning infrastructure spend into a metric you actively improve
• Connect the dots between Gitlab, Slack, and Approvals, and stand up a self-hosted Sentry to give the team full visibility into what's breaking and why

It’s all about you

• 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer in production environments
• Solid experience with AWS services: EC2, ECR, EKS, S3, SQS, SNS, Route53
• Experience supporting a self-hosted Kafka cluster and building custom monitoring metrics
• Strong Terraform configuration skills
• Hands-on experience with K8s, Flux, Kustomize, Helm setup
• Experience with Gitlab pipelines
• Experience with infra monitoring and alerting tools
• Practical AI knowledge and active hands-on use of AI tools (e.g. Claude) in daily work

We build long term. Our current Operations Manager has worked with the owner 3.5+ years. Team members have been here 2+ years. We are looking for someone who wants to grow as the company scales, not someone passing through.

SCHEDULE
These are our operating windows. Final hours are agreed with you before the engagement begins.

Monday to Friday: 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM ET. A 9 hour window with a 1 hour break, roughly 8 hours worked.
Saturday: until 12:00 PM ET, half day
Sunday: a short 2 hour window before 12:00 PM ET, to prep the week ahead

Approximately 46 hours per week. We are telling you this up front rather than after you are invested. It is a demanding schedule and it includes weekend hours. If that does not work for your life, this is the moment to say so, and there is no hard feeling in it. As an independent contractor you control how you deliver the work. These windows reflect when the business runs and when the team needs you reachable.

COMPENSATION
Base $1,400 to $1,800 USD per month depending on experience
Performance bonuses after a 60 to 90 day ramp. Criteria and targets are agreed with you in writing before the ramp ends, based on the measures below. Paid monthly. You are responsible for your own taxes and any registrations required where you are based.

Ramp: take ownership of a department. Report directly to the CEO. Become the operator the business runs with.
Then: demonstrated ownership opens the path to Director of Operations.

Advancement is based on performance and business need. It is the path we are hiring for and we mean it, but it is not a guaranteed timeline and we are not going to pretend otherwise to get you in the door.
The first 90 days are a mutual trial. Either side may end the engagement in that period with written notice.

Leapyn is a B2B marketing agency. A large part of what we do is property marketing for industrial and commercial real estate, which means brochures, landing pages, and campaigns for buildings that are often not built yet.
 

We need someone who can turn a civil engineer's site plan into marketing visuals that a broker can put in front of a tenant.

What you'll be making
 

Illustrative site plans. We hand you a black and white conceptual site plan from the civil engineer, usually a PDF or CAD file with building footprints, square footages, parking, and roads. You give us back a colored aerial site plan with landscaping, paving, striping, trees, and clean labeling.

Exterior building renderings. From that same site plan and whatever elevation drawings exist, you build photorealistic exteriors. Aerial and eye level views, day and dusk lighting, signage and tenant branding placed on the building.

Building types are industrial. Distribution and logistics warehouses, powered shells, data centers, flex and light manufacturing, occasional retail pads.

What we need you to be good at

Reading construction documents. You should be comfortable working from a site plan, elevation set, or PDF markup and knowing what the building is supposed to look like without us describing every dock door.

Accuracy. These renderings go in leasing brochures. Dock counts, bay spacing, clear height, parking layout, and building dimensions have to match the plan, because a broker will get asked about them.

Handling revisions cleanly. Site plans change. When they do we come back with a new version and you rebuild from it.

3ds Max with V-Ray or Corona, Lumion, Twinmotion, D5, Blender, SketchUp, or whatever your pipeline is. We care about the output, not the software.

AI assisted finishing is fine as long as the base geometry comes from an actual model and the building stays accurate to the plan. Tell us where in your process you use it.
