The project involves expanding automated test coverage for a suite of C++ GUI desktop applications. The primary focus is on building and maintaining a comprehensive set of functional and UI tests in Python, following a BDD approach (behave). The framework leverages SQLModel for data handling, Allure for reporting, and an in-house REST-based Windows UI automation server running on dedicated machines that mirror production environments.

Responsibilities: 

• Design, implement, and maintain automated functional and GUI tests for C++ desktop applications. 

• Develop effective test data strategies and select optimal testing approaches for complex workflows.

Requirements: 

• 5+ years of experience in test automation or development. 

• Strong test design expertise: building coverage for complex business workflows, test data strategies, and risk-based testing. 

• Hands-on experience writing and maintaining GUI/functional automated tests for desktop applications (Windows). 

• Experience with BDD frameworks (behave) or readiness to quickly adopt them.

To succeed in the role, you will have:

• Experience with Python (pytest, Selenium/playwright, requests, sqlalchemy or similar);
• Experience with Kubernetes (manually and from tests PoV);
• Experience with the different storages (Clickhouse, MySQL, DynamoDB);
• 4+ years of experience in automation testing (front-end/back-end);
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes;
• Hands-on experience with Load testing tools like k6/jmeter/locust;
• Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting;
• Good understanding of HTTP(s), XML, JSON, HTML, CSS, JS;
• Experience of work in Jira, Confluence;
• Experience with Git;
• At least an upper-intermediate level of English.

Would be beneficial to know:

• Experience with JavaScript;

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 2+ years of manual testing experience (Web & Mobile)
• 4+ years of automation testing experience, with proven track record of delivering high-quality results
• Previous experience in Team Lead / Tech Lead roles (mentoring, guiding team members)
• QA management across multiple projects
• Hands-on experience in building automation frameworks and project architecture from scratch
• Strong coding skills in JavaScript and TypeScript (patterns and principles)
• Solid understanding of automation principles, test levels, and ability to design Automation Test Strategies tailored to project needs
• Good knowledge of UI automation frameworks: Cypress, Playwright, WebDriverIO
• Advanced knowledge of testing methodologies and approaches to ensure comprehensive coverage
• Experience in creating key test artifacts: Test Plans, Test Strategies, Test Approach, Test Reports, Coverage Documents
• Proficiency in REST/SOAP API testing
• Basic SQL knowledge for data validation and testing
• Strong experience with Git version control
• Experience with CI/CD tools: GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines
• Experience with reporting tools (setup, customization, and tool selection for project needs)

Responsibilities

• Lead by example: provide technical leadership and expertise within the field of Quality Assurance, Testing and Automation, conducting training and workshops
• Work as a Senior AQA and/or QA Team lead (Automation and Manual processes, depending on the project needs) on the project, including setting up and maintaining QA and AQA processes from scratch and leading the team of subordinates
• Identify areas of gaps in the Automation coverage process and work on implementing them in cooperation with the Development team
• Defining and monitoring Quality and Automation metrics (related to Regression, Bugs, Automation coverage KPIs)
• Maintain direct communication with the Client and the Client’s team regarding business goals and needs and make appropriate QA process adjustments
• Identify areas and encourage process improvement (within the project and within the QA unit) and efficiency gains within the QA/AQA process and work on implementing them
• People management: collaborate with HR to recruit, hire, and onboard new team members, develop individual development plans for team members, and provide mentoring and support (one-on-one meetings, feedback, coaching)
• Assist team members in resolving technical issues, troubleshooting problems, and making sound technical decisions
• Foster the development of the internal and external QA community

Key Responsibilities 

• Design, build, and maintain robust automation test suites for web and API layers (e.g. Cypress, Postman).  
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines   
• Create test plans and strategies for regression, smoke, and performance testing.  
• Collaborate with developers, QAs and product owners to define acceptance criteria and test coverage.  
• Continuously improve QA practices, frameworks, and tools across the engineering teams.  
• Analyze test results, identify root causes, and raise issues with clear documentation.  
• You will participate in daily project team meetings and brainstorming activities related to the project issues 

Key Requirements 

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in test automation (frontend and backend).  
• Deep proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and experience with E2E testing tools, especially Cypress. 
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and testing tools like Postman or similar.  
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub Actions). 
• Solid knowledge of core web technologies: HTTP, REST, HTML, CSS. 
• DRY, KISS and refactoring skills 
• Fluent English (Upper-Intermediate level). 
• Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical solutions effectively. 

Desirable Skills 

• Knowledge of performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust).  
• Previous work experience in fintech, proptech, or fast-scaling startups.   
• ISTQB or equivalent certification is a plus. 

KPIs 

• % of critical user journeys covered by automation.  
• Reduction in manual regression time per release.  
• Test coverage of key services/modules.  
• Automation build health and execution speed.
