Department/Project Description
Project Management serves as an advocacy for the business and technology organizations to streamline processes in order to ensure successful delivery of projects that align with the goals of Rubicon Project. The Project Management team accomplishes this through our five pillars of support: Cohesion, Commitment, Communication, Confidence and Curiosity. Using this support, our team has the capability to manage and control project schedules, allocation of resources and to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

A Project Manager at Rubicon Project must be a cross-functional leader with excellent communication and mediation skills, enabling teams to remain motivated and on task. Project Management is responsible for driving the project team from project inception to on-time delivery while ensuring inter-dependencies are identified and critical milestones are met. The Project Manager interacts with all parts of the business, with a primary focus on product and technology development, and has a keen sense of what the team needs to develop and deliver results.
Job Description
What we look for:
Technical degree (MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering), project management degree, or development experience or 5+ years of experience as a technical project manager, preferably with open-source technologies.
Previous experience organizing and/or managing project schedules across multiple development teams and projects
Expected to manage multiple projects of 3-6 months in length across 2-3 cross-functional development teams with 10+ resources per project.
Communicate and present different points-of-view for projects dependent on audience
Thorough understanding of the project life cycle process to effectively manage projects from inception to delivery and rollout
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
Excellent communication, mediation and conflict resolution skills with the capacity to keep the team motivated and on task.
Knowledge of online ad system technologies (e.g., ad serving & optimization, targeting) is desirable
Travel (no greater than 1-2 weeks per quarter) and work with remote teams across multiple time zones required.
Tools/Skills:
Clear documentation and planning utilizing common project management and technology tools such as Atlassian Confluence, JIRA, MS Project, Smartsheet and Google suite of documentation (Docs, Sheets, etc).
Time management skills are a must; being able to work flexible hours across US-based time zones (Los Angeles headquarters) a requirement.
Proven ability of technical leadership, inclusive of grooming technical managers and individual contributors
Experience with agile and waterfall methodologies with knowledge of how best to work critical path tasks
Personality traits:
A keen sense of curiosity to learn and absorb information via documentation, and to be able to ask detailed questions as concisely as possible.
A “night owl” who is able to work adjusted hours to ensure overlapping time with US-based teams.
Exemplary organizational and communication skills
A great attitude, with the capacity to keep the project team motivated and on task
Mediation and/or conflict resolution skills

Job Responsibilities
What you will be doing:
Leading critical quarterly product/technology projects from inception to completion, especially those that are initiated or managed through our off-shore resources in Kyiv
Be a cross-functional leader against these projects, being able to drive the team to resolving open questions, addressing blockers and clarifying scope to ensure project delivery is successful (timely and with given resources allocated)
Working adjusted hours to be able to communicate and facilitate communications with US-based teams (Los Angeles headquarters)
Develop and track against project plans; assess timelines and escalate risks to management
Drive project team accountability to ensure critical milestones and deadlines are met (engineering and product development)
Define and document implementation plans and dependencies with all involved technical stakeholders
Implement, document and update processes to fit the needs of the team
Work across teams to manage shared resources, interdependencies and other cross-team timelines
Identify and keep track of project tasks, system defects, and backlog
Review product requirements to ensure they are thoroughly defined with all business and project stakeholders prior to developing a project plan
Facilitate project team meetings to identify key action items and blockers
Primary contact for all phases and components of the project
Provide appropriate project status visibility for at least two tiers of below resources:
Team working on project and immediate project and technical leads
All involved team leads and project management peers
Upper management
