From advanced aerial drones to underwater and ground platforms, our systems combine cutting-edge hardware with AI-driven software for seamless control and real-time data insights. Trusted by defense, security, and public sector clients worldwide, we redefine mission versatility and performance.

Quantum-Systems is a strong supporter of Ukraine and has it’s local Ukrainian office since 2022.

As Senior Systems Engineer you will be responsible for become a core member of the newly established Systems Engineering function in Ukraine, supporting the development and evolution of complex unmanned aerial systems and their supporting software, communication, payload, and ground-control components.

This is a full-time office job. Candidates must be located in Kyiv.

What is your Day to Day Mission:

  • System Context & Functional Analysis – Translate product Capabilities, operational scenarios and ConOps into a clear technical system context, including system boundaries, actors, operating modes, states, assumptions and external interactions.
  • Trade Studies & Technical Feasibility – Perform structured technical feasibility assessments and trade studies, evaluating alternatives, constraints, risks and system-level consequences and preparing evidence-based engineering recommendations.
  • System Requirements Engineering – Develop, analyze, refine and maintain system-level requirements that are unambiguous, feasible, measurable and verifiable, including rationale, applicability, criticality and traceability.
  • System Architecture Development – Contribute to and develop functional, logical and physical system architectures covering HW, SW, communication, payload, ground-control and other relevant system elements.
  • Requirements Decomposition & Allocation – Decompose system requirements and allocate functions, performance constraints and technical responsibilities to subsystems and engineering domains while maintaining end-to-end traceability.
  • Subsystem Technical Contracts – Define the system-level technical expectations for individual subsystems, ensuring engineering teams have clear requirements, constraints, interfaces and verification intent without prescribing their detailed implementation.
  • Interface Management – Define, coordinate and maintain cross-domain system interfaces, including mechanical, electrical, RF, data, API and HW/SW interfaces, and ensure consistency between participating engineering teams.
  • System Budgets & Constraints – Support definition, allocation and assessment of relevant system budgets and cross-domain constraints such as mass, power, timing, bandwidth, computational resources and performance.
  • Verification & Validation Basis – Define how system requirements shall be verified, including verification method, level, configuration, environment, measurable pass/fail criteria and expected evidence; contribute to the technical basis for capability validation.
  • Requirements Traceability – Maintain end-to-end traceability between product Capabilities, system requirements, subsystem requirements, interfaces, implementation scope and verification evidence.
  • Engineering Change Impact Assessment – Analyze proposed changes, development constraints and V&V findings to identify their impact on requirements, architecture, interfaces, configurations, system risks and verification coverage.
  • Technical Risk Management – Identify and assess system-level technical risks, assumptions, uncertainties and unresolved items and drive them toward technically justified resolution.
  • Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration – Work closely with Chief Engineers, Product Managers, Product Owners, HW/SW Team Leads, domain experts and V&V teams to resolve cross-domain technical topics and maintain overall system consistency.
  • Engineering Reviews & Documentation – Prepare and review system requirements, architecture descriptions, interface definitions, trade studies, technical decisions, verification strategies and other systems engineering artefacts.
  • Continuous Systems Engineering Development – Contribute to establishing and improving Systems Engineering methods, templates, tools and working practices as the function is built and scaled within the organization.

What you bring to the team:

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience, including substantial work on multidisciplinary products or systems combining several of the following domains: mechanics, electronics, embedded systems, software, communication systems, control systems, sensors or payloads.
  • Demonstrated experience working at system or subsystem level, rather than exclusively within a single component or narrow technical discipline.
  • Strong practical understanding of requirements engineering, including requirement formulation, decomposition, allocation, verification criteria and traceability.
  • Experience developing or contributing to system architecture, including functional decomposition, subsystem boundaries, allocation of functions and management of technical constraints.
  • Practical experience with system interfaces and cross-functional integration involving multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to convert incomplete or high-level product and operational needs into structured and testable engineering definitions without prematurely prescribing a detailed implementation.
  • Experience performing technical trade-off analysis, feasibility assessment and structured engineering decision-making involving competing constraints.
  • Good understanding of verification and validation principles, including the relationship between requirements, verification methods, test levels, acceptance criteria and objective evidence.
  • Experience analyzing engineering changes and understanding their cross-system impact on requirements, architecture, interfaces and verification.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering fundamentals and ability to communicate effectively with specialists from HW, SW, embedded, controls, RF, mechanical and testing domains.
  • Strong analytical thinking and ability to distinguish system-level responsibility from subsystem detailed design.
  • Ability to communicate complex engineering topics clearly, structure technical discussions and drive ambiguous cross-functional topics toward explicit technical decisions.
  • Strong ownership mindset while being comfortable operating in an environment where technical responsibility is distributed between Chief Engineer, Systems Engineering and domain engineering teams.
  • Fluent English required for technical communication and documentation.

    Strong advantages:

  • Experience in UAV, aerospace, robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, defence or other complex embedded cyber-physical systems.
  • Previous work within a formal Systems Engineering lifecycle using approaches derived from the V-model or comparable development frameworks.
  • Familiarity with standards and practices such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148 or ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010.
  • Experience with requirements and traceability tools such as Jama, DOORS, Jira/Confluence or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with system modelling approaches such as SysML/MBSE is an advantage, but is not a prerequisite.
  • Experience with FMEA/FMECA, hazard analysis, system safety or compliance engineering is advantageous.
  • Practical exposure to system integration, laboratory testing, field testing or flight testing.
