Senior QA Engineer (Foundational QA, HealthTech, EU-based)
About the project
Our client is a fast-growing German HealthTech startup building an AI voice assistant for nurses and care workers. Nurses speak into a mobile app, and the product automatically turns it into care documentation, saving them hours of admin work every week. The product is already used by thousands of care facilities across Europe and is expanding to the US.
About the role
This is a foundational QA role. There is no QA in the team yet, and you will be the first and only QA engineer working alongside 6 developers. We are looking for someone who doesn’t just execute test cases but truly understands the product, its users and the business logic behind every feature, and who can build a QA process from scratch.
Responsibilities
- Become the go-to expert on product quality: learn the product deeply and understand how nurses use it in real life
- Test new features and releases across mobile apps, APIs and integrations
- Set up the QA process from scratch: test documentation, bug tracking, regression and release checks
- Work closely with developers and product to clarify requirements and catch issues early
- Define what should be automated and help lay the foundation for test automation
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in QA
- Experience as the only QA on a project or building QA processes from scratch
- Strong manual testing skills and a product mindset
- Experience testing mobile applications (iOS and/or Android)
- API testing experience (Postman or similar)
- Ability to work independently and proactively, clarifying requirements on your own
- English at Upper-Intermediate level or higher
- You must be based in and work from an EU country
Nice to have
- Test automation experience (Kotlin/Java, JUnit, Appium, Espresso or similar)
- CI/CD experience
- Background in HealthTech, AI or voice products, or testing integrations
- German language
