Fullstack Developer (Python / Django + Kotlin or Flutter)
Who we are
Vista Auction is an online auction for returned and overstock goods. Items go up for auction in our mobile app, people bid, and winners pick up at our warehouses near Charlotte, North Carolina.
We serve more than 55,000 customers a month, sell over 25,000 items a day, and take more than 7 million bids a month. And we're just getting started!
We run our own warehouses and build our own technology, so everything a customer experiences, from the first bid to the pickup counter, is ours to make better.
The Platform Team
The Platform Team is a group of engineers and product people across the US and Europe that owns the whole Vista Auction platform: the mobile app and website, the auction engine, the warehouse and pickup systems, and the internal tools and AI agents.
It is led by our Head of Engineering, who works directly with the founder. An idea can ship and be measured in days.
You will join the team as a fullstack developer. You are responsible for the API and the app. The same person who writes the endpoint ships the screen.
The team is universal. Engineers pick up each other's work across the warehouse API, the warehouse app, and the customer app, whichever part the release needs. You do the same. Stack on that work is Python and Django on the API, Kotlin on the warehouse app, and Flutter on the app customers use. You ship in small releases.
AI is part of how this team builds: you are expected to use it every day and to know when the output is ready to merge.
What You'll Do
- Own the feature on both sides.
- Turn a product idea into a release in days. Keep the change small enough to ship, watch the result, and follow with the next one.
- Use AI to move faster.
- Pick up work another engineer started, and leave yours in a state someone else can finish. The team covers the API and both apps together.
- Leave the system clearer than you found it. Tests on the logic you add, and a change another engineer can review quickly.
What You'll Bring
Must have:
- Production experience with Python, Django, and Django REST Framework. You have designed endpoints, validation, and PostgreSQL queries yourself.
- Mobile experience in Kotlin (Android), Flutter, or both. You are ready to take the app side of a feature, on the warehouse app or the customer app, next to the API.
- Daily use of AI coding tools, with a clear sense of where they help and where they waste time. You review generated code before it ships.
- A habit of small, frequent releases.
- About 3 to 5 years of commercial development.
You work directly with engineers and product, and you write changes that are easy to review.
Nice to have:
- Celery on RabbitMQ, Redis, and Docker in a real deployment.
- React and TypeScript.
A mobile release process you have run yourself: build, test, ship.
What we offer
- You are responsible for the API and the app. A small universal team.
- Real customers, real numbers, fast.
- AI is part of the job, with the expectation that you use it well and stay responsible for what merges.
- Growth with the team.
