About the Role
We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to take ownership of our website as it moves from staging to a polished, production-ready platform. Our site is built on WordPress, serves customers in both English and Arabic, and includes a product catalog where farmers and distributors can explore our fertilizers and contact our team. You will improve the existing site, build new features as our product line grows, and make sure the platform is fast, secure and easy for our team to manage. This is a contract position with the possibility of a longer-term engagement.
What You Will Do
You will review the current WordPress site and agree with our team on priorities and a delivery timeline. You will build and maintain the product catalog using WooCommerce, including product pages with technical details such as composition, application methods, recommended crops and dosage information, along with categories and filters that help farmers find the right product. You will maintain full bilingual support in English and Arabic, including correct right-to-left layout, translated content and consistent design across both languages. You will develop custom themes, plugins and features in PHP and JavaScript where off-the-shelf plugins are not enough, and you may build integrations such as inquiry and quotation forms, order or distributor requests, CRM or email tools, and analytics. You will improve site performance by optimizing images, reducing reliance on heavy plugins such as slider tools, setting up caching and improving Core Web Vitals. You will also handle security and maintenance, including updates, backups, SSL, spam protection and access control, apply on-page SEO in both languages, make sure every page works smoothly on mobile, and manage the move from staging to production with minimal downtime. Finally, you will document your work so our team can add products and update content without developer help.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with at least 3 years of professional full-stack web development experience and a portfolio of live WordPress and WooCommerce websites they have built or significantly improved. You should have strong PHP skills, including custom theme and plugin development, and solid front-end skills in HTML, CSS and modern JavaScript. You should be comfortable working with MySQL databases, the WordPress REST API and third-party API integrations. Hands-on experience building multilingual websites with Arabic and right-to-left support is essential, using tools such as WPML or Polylang. You should also have practical knowledge of web performance, security best practices and technical SEO, be comfortable with Git, hosting control panels and staging-to-production deployments, and be able to communicate clearly in English and work independently against agreed milestones.
Nice to Have
Arabic language skills are a strong advantage. Experience with e-commerce or B2B product catalogs for agriculture, manufacturing or industrial products would be valuable, as would experience with headless WordPress or a modern JavaScript framework such as React or Next.js. UI/UX design skills, experience with Figma, and familiarity with payment gateway, shipping or ERP integrations will also be appreciated.
Contract Details
This is an independent contractor role. You will invoice United FC directly, with payment based on agreed milestones or regular invoices. All code, designs and content created for the project will belong to United FC. We will hold a short weekly progress check-in, with other updates shared by email or chat, and a non-disclosure agreement will be required before access to our systems is granted.
