Contract Web Developer – Hadji School

About the Role
Hadji School is looking for an experienced freelance web developer to update and modernize our school website. This is a fixed-term, remote contract with a clear goal: refresh the design, improve performance and usability, and leave us with a website our staff can easily maintain. The contract is expected to last around 4–8 weeks, with the possibility of extension for ongoing support.

What You Will Do
You will start by reviewing our current website and agreeing on an update plan, priorities and timeline with our team. You will then implement a refreshed, modern design that reflects the Hadji School brand and make sure every page works well on desktop, tablet and mobile. You will update and restructure key content such as the home page, about the school, programs and courses, admissions, news and events, staff, and contact pages. You will also improve page speed, apply on-page SEO best practices, improve accessibility, and set up or fix contact and inquiry forms and website analytics. Before launch, you will test the site across major browsers and devices, deploy it to production without downtime, and provide simple documentation so our staff can edit content and maintain the site after handover.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with at least 3 years of professional web development experience and a portfolio of live websites they have built or redesigned. You should have strong skills in HTML, CSS and modern JavaScript, and hands-on experience with common website platforms or frameworks such as WordPress, React or Next.js. You should understand responsive design, cross-browser testing, web performance and basic technical SEO, and be comfortable using Git and deploying to standard hosting platforms. Clear communication in English, reliability with deadlines, and the ability to work independently are essential.

Nice to Have
Experience building websites for schools or educational institutions is a strong plus. UI/UX design skills, experience with a content management system that non-technical staff can use, multilingual website setup, and familiarity with tools like Figma will also be valued.

Contract Details
This is an independent contractor position. You will invoice Hadji School directly, with payment based on agreed milestones or regular invoices. All code, designs and content created for the project will belong to Hadji School. We will hold a short weekly check-in to review progress, with other updates shared by email or chat.
