Senior Backend Developer (Node.js + TypeScript)

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join a UK-based digital healthcare company that combines digital tools with clinical expertise to deliver medical and wellbeing services through its online platform.

You will work primarily on Node.js services, including the commerce side of the platform (payments, orders, subscriptions), and occasionally contribute to .NET services alongside the wider team.

What you'll do

• Design and build backend services in Node.js and TypeScript;
• Work on commerce functionality with Medusa v2 or an equivalent Node.js commerce or API framework;
• Integrate and maintain payment flows with Stripe;
• Build event-driven and background processing: queues, workers, webhooks;
• Work with PostgreSQL and Redis;
• Contribute to ASP.NET Core Web APIs when the team needs it;
• Work in a monorepo setup and contribute to frontend features in Next.js and React where needed;
• Cover your work with tests: Jest or Vitest, xUnit and Moq, Playwright.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial backend development experience;
• Strong Node.js and TypeScript;
• Experience with Medusa v2, or strong experience with another Node.js commerce or API framework such as NestJS;
• Working knowledge of C# and ASP.NET Core Web APIs;
• Solid experience designing REST APIs;
• Payments integration experience, ideally Stripe;
• Event-driven and background processing: queues, workers, webhooks;
• PostgreSQL and Redis;
• Familiarity with Next.js (App Router, server actions) and React;
• Monorepo tooling: pnpm, Turborepo;
• Docker and CI/CD (GitLab);
• Testing: Jest or Vitest, xUnit and Moq, Playwright;
• Good spoken and written English.

• Azure: App Service, Storage Queues, Key Vault;
• Kubernetes;
• Terraform;
• Headless CMS (Sanity or similar);
• E-commerce domain experience: carts, orders, promotions, subscriptions;
• Datadog or similar observability tooling.
