3D Full-Stack Geometry Engineer (C++ / Three.js / Angular / Node.js / AWS)

Product

We are building a digital orthodontics platform with interactive browser-based 3D tools and backend mesh-processing services.

This is a hybrid role combining native computational geometry in C++, browser-based 3D development with Three.js and TypeScript, full-stack development with Angular and Node.js, and deployment of geometry-processing workloads to AWS.

You will be able to take a 3D feature through its complete lifecycle: implement the geometry algorithm, expose it through a backend service, build the browser interaction, and deploy the complete workflow to production.

Important: this is not a 3D visualization-only position. The role requires hands-on experience with mesh manipulation, computational geometry, 3D mathematics, and geometry-quality validation.

You Are

  • A Software Engineer with commercial experience building 3D, CAD, mesh-processing, medical 3D, 3D-printing, scientific visualization, or similar systems.
  • Strong in modern C++17 or later, including memory management, performance profiling, native libraries, and dependency management.
  • Strong in JavaScript/TypeScript and experienced with browser-based 3D development using Three.js or raw WebGL.
  • Experienced with computational geometry and direct manipulation of triangle meshes.
  • Familiar with mesh topology, normals, boundaries, connected components, non-manifold geometry, coordinate systems, units, and numerical tolerances.
  • Have implemented or integrated mesh operations such as repair, remeshing, simplification, smoothing, cutting, Boolean operations, offsets, distance queries, collision/contact detection, or registration.
  • Have practical experience with at least one geometry-processing library or SDK such as VTK, CGAL, Open3D, libigl, MeshLib, OpenMesh, or similar.
  • Comfortable with the mathematics behind 3D systems, including vectors, matrices, transformations, projections, quaternions, linear algebra, and spatial queries.
  • Familiar with spatial data structures and acceleration techniques such as BVH, octrees, or k-d trees.
  • Experienced with Three.js concepts including BufferGeometry, materials, cameras, raycasting, object transforms, interaction tools, and rendering-performance optimization.
  • Have practical experience with Angular and reactive application architecture using RxJS or equivalent patterns.
  • Have backend experience with Node.js and Express or a comparable framework.
  • Comfortable integrating native C++ processing with web services through a CLI, native library, binding, API, or containerized worker.
  • Experienced with CMake, Linux, Docker, Git workflows, pull requests, and code review.
  • Able to write automated tests for geometry code using fixtures, invariants, tolerance checks, and regression datasets.
  • Able to investigate problems across the entire system—from incorrect geometry output to API integration, browser interaction, or cloud execution.

Will Be a Plus

  • Experience with multiple geometry-processing libraries or commercial 3D SDKs.
  • Experience with AWS services such as S3, SQS, Step Functions, ECS/Fargate, AWS Batch, Lambda, ECR, CloudWatch, and IAM.
  • Experience designing asynchronous and long-running processing workflows.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with C++ bindings such as pybind11 or nanobind.
  • Experience with Python, NumPy, trimesh, or similar geometry tooling.
  • Experience with WebAssembly or compiling native C++ libraries for the browser using Emscripten.
  • Experience with Web Workers, transferable buffers, SharedArrayBuffer, or moving CPU-intensive calculations outside the browser’s main thread.
  • Experience with three-mesh-bvh, GLSL shaders, large-mesh rendering, or custom Three.js interaction tools.
  • Experience evaluating third-party geometry SDKs, including benchmarks, licence restrictions, and headless deployment.
  • Background in medtech, healthcare, dental CAD/CAM, scientific visualization, or 3D printing.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.

What We Expect from You

  • Own 3D features from geometry implementation through backend integration, browser tooling, and production deployment.
  • Work directly with mesh data and geometry algorithms, not only with rendering and visual appearance.
  • Define clear tolerances, invariants, validation rules, and quality checks for geometry operations.
  • Identify cases where an operation cannot produce a reliable result and report them clearly.
  • Make practical engineering decisions that help us deliver quickly without unnecessary overengineering.
  • Proactively identify geometry-quality, rendering, performance, memory, and scalability issues.
  • Maintain clear contracts between C++ processing, backend services, and browser-based 3D tools.
  • Be comfortable working in an evolving product with changing priorities and early-stage ambiguity.
  • Review, test, and validate AI-generated code before using it in production.
  • Communicate effectively with domain experts, frontend engineers, backend engineers, and infrastructure engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve native C++ mesh-processing tools and libraries.
  • Implement and integrate computational geometry algorithms for processing and modifying complex 3D meshes.
  • Build interactive browser-based 3D tools using Three.js and TypeScript.
  • Implement Angular components, services, state management, and user workflows for 3D features.
  • Develop Node.js/Express APIs that connect browser tools with native geometry-processing services.
  • Define stable contracts for mesh formats, metadata, units, coordinate systems, transforms, inputs, outputs, and errors.
  • Package C++ geometry operations as reliable headless Linux workers using Docker.
  • Deploy geometry workers to appropriate AWS compute services and orchestrate them using Step Functions, queues, and object storage.
  • Implement asynchronous job execution, progress reporting, retries, timeouts, failure handling, and structured error reporting.
  • Optimize geometry-processing time, memory usage, output quality, browser rendering, and data transfer.
  • Write unit, integration, end-to-end, and geometry-regression tests.
  • Create representative mesh fixtures and tolerance-based quality checks.
  • Investigate issues across C++, Node.js, Angular, Three.js, Docker, and AWS.
  • Participate in technical design discussions, pull-request reviews, and engineering best practices.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve development speed and code quality.
