Backend Developer / Reverse Engineering Engineer
Backend Developer (Node.js / TypeScript): Android Infrastructure, Reverse Engineering, High-Load
We are looking for a strong Backend Developer for a high-load project connected with Android infrastructure, reverse engineering, network traffic analysis, and processing large amounts of data.
The main backend is built on Node.js, so strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript is required.
Please note: this is not a web development position. You will work with software โ native Android applications, their internals, and their network communication โ not with websites or browser-based web applications. Candidates without hands-on experience working with software at this level will not be considered.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js / TypeScript.
- Work with high-load and distributed systems.
- Design systems for storing and processing large amounts of data.
- Work with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Redis.
- Optimize database queries, indexes, and data structure.
- Work with replication, sharding, partitioning, distributed data, high availability, and fault tolerance.
- Work with Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Find and fix performance problems in backend, databases, and infrastructure.
- Analyze network traffic and the communication of native Android applications.
- Work with traffic sniffing and proxy tools.
- Understand how mobile applications communicate with backend services and APIs.
- Analyze requests, responses, headers, payloads, tokens, and sessions.
- Work with existing code and systems with limited documentation.
- Find technical problems and propose solutions independently.
- Work with distributed workers, services, and nodes.
Required Skills
Software / Reverse Engineering / Network Analysis (mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with Android reverse engineering (not just theoretical understanding).
- Practical experience intercepting and analyzing traffic of native applications (mitmproxy, Burp Suite, Charles, Frida, or similar).
- Understanding of Android architecture.
- Good understanding of HTTP / HTTPS.
- Understanding of TLS, including certificate pinning and how it affects traffic analysis.
- Experience with proxy-based traffic analysis.
- Understanding of authentication, sessions, cookies, and tokens at the application level.
Backend
- Strong experience with Node.js.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Good understanding of async programming.
- Understanding of the Node.js event loop.
- Experience with REST API and WebSocket.
- Experience with high-load backend systems.
Databases
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience with ClickHouse.
- Strong experience with Redis.
- Good understanding of indexes, query optimization, query plans, replication, sharding, partitioning, distributed databases, data consistency, and high availability.
Experience with large databases and high traffic is very important.
Infrastructure
- Kubernetes.
- Docker.
- Linux.
- Experience with cluster systems.
- Understanding of networking, load balancing, and horizontal scaling.
- Ability to find CPU, RAM, disk, and network bottlenecks.
- Experience with logs and monitoring.
Important: read before applying
This role is about software, not web applications.
Our backend does not serve a website or a typical web product. It supports infrastructure built around native Android applications: we analyze how the apps work, how they communicate over the network, and we process the data at scale.
This is a strict requirement:
- You must have real, practical experience working with software (native/mobile applications): analyzing app behavior, intercepting and inspecting traffic, understanding protocols, sessions, and tokens at the application level.
- Experience limited to web development (websites, admin panels, CRUD APIs for web frontends, e-commerce, CMS) is not sufficient, regardless of seniority.
- Applications without this experience are not reviewed.
The candidate should understand the full system:
application โ network โ backend โ databases โ infrastructure
The developer should be able to work independently, research technical problems, understand existing systems, and find solutions even when documentation is limited.
Level
Strong Middle / Senior Backend Developer
Will be a plus
- Large-scale data processing.
- Complex or undocumented APIs.
- Systems with many workers and nodes.
- Experience with Frida, native libraries (JNI / .so), or protocol analysis beyond HTTP (protobuf, gRPC, custom binary protocols).
