Automation QA Engineer (CAD / BIM Plugins)
Consedge Tech is a Ukrainian company developing plugins and integrations for engineering software (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Revit, Tekla Structures) for clients in the US and Europe.
We are looking for a Part-Time Automation QA Engineer to design and implement an automated testing pipeline for CAD/BIM plugins (SolidWorks, Siemens NX). You will set up a dedicated test assembly using NUnit, configure a Windows-based GitLab CI/CD runner, and automate GUI/headless application triggers via PowerShell scripts on Virtual Machines.
Responsibilities:
- Set up a dedicated Tests project (NUnit) using the AAA pattern for integration/regression testing of CAD plugin assemblies without manual UI execution,
- Configure and edit existing GitLab CI/CD pipelines (.gitlab-ci.yml) to incorporate automated testing stages,
- Set up, configure, and maintain GitLab Runner on a Windows VM operating with desktop GUI interactive sessions,
- Write PowerShell automation scripts to trigger CAD software (SolidWorks, Siemens NX), run test assemblies, and output structured logs/results,
- Prepare, validate, and manage test fixtures, model inputs (parts, assemblies), and test datasets,
Ensure output installer compilation scripts cleanly exclude test assemblies during production builds.
Requirements
Must Have:
- Automation Frameworks & C#: Strong experience with C# and NUnit for creating test assemblies, fixtures, and applying the AAA pattern,
- CI/CD Pipelines: Hands-on experience configuring GitLab CI/CD (.gitlab-ci.yml), pipeline stages, job dependencies, and artifact management,
- Windows Environment & Scripting: Proficient with PowerShell scripting for process execution, environment deployment, and file manipulation,
- GitLab Runner: Experience installing, registering, and configuring GitLab Runners on Windows OS (specifically Shell executor and GUI/interactive desktop session management),
Test Data Management: Experience preparing test datasets (JSONs, fixtures, input/output assertions, log parsing),
Nice to Have:
- CAD/BIM Domain Knowledge: Experience interacting with, testing, or scripting for SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Revit, or AutoCAD,
- Installer/Build Automation: Familiarity with configuring build tasks to handle/exclude test assemblies during installer creation (e.g., Inno Setup, WiX, or MSBuild scripting),
- Unit Test Generation: Experience with automated unit test generation tools or mock frameworks.
