Automation QA (Python) Engineer

What is the purpose of this position?
We are looking for an experienced Automation QA Engineer (SDET) to design, build, and maintain automated testing for our APIs and backend services. You will work closely with developers and QA engineers to ensure the reliability, performance, and quality of our systems. Potential clients make many requests, so we want to engage a new specialist on board and provide fast staffing.

Location: Remote (CET time zone preferably), ready to coordinate with US and EU time zones.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for REST APIs and backend services.
• Analyse APIs and independently identify comprehensive test scenarios, including positive, negative, validation, boundary, and edge cases.
• Design and implement BDD-based API test scenarios.
• Develop and maintain API test automation frameworks and tools in Python (e.g. pytest, requests, behave/pytest-bdd, or similar).
• Design, execute, and analyse performance tests for APIs and backend services.
• Investigate functional issues, performance behaviour, and bottlenecks.
• Contribute to integration, regression, and contract testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with developers and QA engineers and clearly communicate testing findings.
   

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience as an Automation QA Engineer / SDET.
• Strong practical experience with REST API and backend/service testing.
• Strong knowledge of Python and experience building test automation frameworks with it.
• Practical experience with Python-based API automation tools/frameworks (e.g. pytest, requests, behave, pytest-bdd) or comparable frameworks.
• Strong BDD and test-design skills, including negative, validation, boundary, and edge-case testing.
• Strong practical performance-testing experience, including test design, metrics analysis, and interpretation of results (e.g. Locust, JMeter, k6, or similar).
• Experience investigating performance bottlenecks in API/backend systems.
• Strong backend integration-testing experience.
• Experience with regression and contract testing.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to independently understand unfamiliar APIs and adapt based on feedback.
   

Nice to Have: 

• Experience with Elasticsearch or search-related backend services.
• Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Familiarity with additional API automation frameworks (e.g. Karate, RestAssured, Postman/Newman).
